Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 2.0
The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks for an opinion on whether boys and girls should be educated in single-sex or co-educational schools. However, the essay discusses whether parents should take formal training courses for parenting. Because the response fails to address the actual task question, it cannot be assessed for task achievement in a meaningful way. Even if the topic were relevant, the ideas are repetitive and lack the depth required for a higher band score. To improve, you must carefully read the prompt and ensure your arguments directly answer the specific question asked.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which is a positive feature. There is a basic attempt at logical progression using transition signals like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, the internal cohesion is often mechanical and sometimes confusing due to grammatical errors. For example, the transition 'Elaborating further' is used repeatedly, which makes the flow feel repetitive rather than sophisticated. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the writer's train of thought. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring they are used naturally would help improve the flow of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic words like 'skills', 'children', and 'parents' throughout the text. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'this styles differ their culture' and 'handle the situation with harming them'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the lack of precision hinders the clarity of the argument. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary and collocations, and try to use a wider range of synonyms to avoid repeating the same words in every sentence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay that often impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('this styles differ', 'this skills helps'), incorrect use of articles, and awkward sentence structures. The essay relies mostly on simple sentences, and attempts at complex structures are often grammatically flawed, such as 'Although not every parent need formal training because this styles differ their culture.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary capitalization and missing commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of plural and singular nouns.
