Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many countries, boys and girls attend mixed schools but some people argue that separating them in single-sex schools is more beneficial.

Overall, Co-education provide certain advantages, build confidence in students, competition level also increases in both gender students and which is somehow a good basic experience. Obviously, it has advantages and disadvantages as well but we should look up on it's also a part of our knowledge and maintenance of self confidence.

Nowadays, in many countries both males and females are working together in any organizations, firms, offices just because it's a normal thing they have learnt from their childhood or from the culture.

Moreover, Co-education plays a vital role in children education. They learn how to talk with other gender, how to respect them and how to make comfortable environment instead of hesitating.

I believe, Co-education in mixed schools is significant for students because it prepares them for real-life situations and helps develop important social skills.

For instance, last month I went for an interview there was a girl who was there for interview as well when I look her she was actually shivering because the interviewer was male. Afterwards, when it's her turn she immediately left.

This shows that students from single-sex schools often lack confidence when dealing with the opposite gender.

To conclude, while single schools may have some advantages, I firmly believe that co-education is more significant and helps them to develop confidence and motivate each others, Therefore, mixed schools are better for students' overall development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of co-education. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that co-education prepares students for real-life situations, the supporting example regarding the interview is somewhat anecdotal and lacks depth. The argument could be strengthened by discussing the academic or psychological benefits in more detail. The introduction is brief, and the second paragraph is somewhat repetitive and lacks a clear focus, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and fully explores the implications of your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and sentence structure. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'To conclude', they are sometimes used mechanically. The transition between the general discussion of co-education and the specific example of the interview is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'when I look her she was actually shivering', where the connection to the previous point is not fully established. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences will enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'important', and 'better'. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'maintenance of self confidence' and 'competition level also increases in both gender students'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a need for more sophisticated vocabulary and better control over word combinations. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and add nuance to your arguments.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the flow. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Co-education provide'), incorrect use of articles, and awkward phrasing ('when I look her'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices and run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered highly accurate. Focusing on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for punctuation errors will help improve your grammatical accuracy significantly.
