Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 101 words. Because the essay is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, the task is not fully addressed. While you establish a clear position in the introduction, the body paragraph is underdeveloped and lacks the necessary depth, examples, and conclusion required for an Academic Task 2 response. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full, structured argument with sufficient supporting evidence and a clear conclusion. The current length prevents a full exploration of the topic, which severely limits the score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using transition words like 'While' and 'Moreover' to connect ideas. However, because the text is incomplete, the overall progression is interrupted. Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending makes it difficult to assess the full coherence of the argument. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are fully developed before moving to the next point. Using a wider variety of cohesive devices, such as 'consequently' or 'furthermore,' would help improve the flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the topic, such as 'co-educational,' 'single-sex schools,' and 'coordinating.' However, the range is limited, and there are some minor errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'in same school' (should be 'in the same school') and 'text books' (usually one word). The limited length of the response restricts the opportunity to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'While some individuals think... I completely disagree' (a sentence fragment), and 'sharing classroom makes student more familiar' (missing articles and pluralization). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete nature of the text makes it difficult to evaluate the full range of your grammatical control. Focus on subject-verb agreement, proper use of articles, and ensuring that every sentence is a complete, grammatically correct unit.
