Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many countries of the world, individuals thinks that girls and boys have gain more benefits from being educated separately in single-sex school. I'm gonna tell you my view about this system. In many Muslims countries like Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia etc, girls have separate campus of school and boys have separate campus of school. But in other countries such as Thailand, China and in European countries, girls and boys studied together and they don't have separate campus for girls and boys.

Some people thinks that girls and boys have to studied separately in school. I agreed with them because of the modern era. A lot of things changes as time passes like in co-school girls and boys dated together and the young generation lost their limit.

From my perspectives, the young generation like teenager girls and boys have to studied separately but when they are young enough to understand things like 18 plus students then they have to studied in co-system. But when they are young, they should not have to study in co-system. Because they generate a lot of issues like in a very young age students do illegal things, dated each other and does not focus on their studies. And how very young generation get destroyed.

In conclusion, I agreed with that people who thinks that girls and boys have not to studied in co-system. Due to this, they gain a lot of benefits like they will more intelligent, genius and gain a sense of observing things. When they reach at 18 then they will study in co-educated system.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While you mention that single-sex education helps students focus, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. The essay relies on generalizations about 'illegal things' and 'dating' without providing a nuanced discussion of the educational or social benefits. To improve, focus on expanding your arguments with clear, logical reasoning rather than repeating the same point in different ways. The conclusion is somewhat abrupt and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is very basic and sometimes mechanical (e.g., 'In conclusion', 'But'). There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect sentences and ideas smoothly. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between the conclusion and the previous arguments feels forced. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on simple terms like 'good', 'things', and 'study'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'dated together' instead of 'dating' or 'have to studied' instead of 'have to study'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more academic vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of education, such as 'academic performance', 'social development', or 'gender-segregated environments'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'individuals thinks', 'girls and boys have gain') and verb tense/form (e.g., 'have to studied', 'does not focus'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with very few successful attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and incorrect capitalization. These errors occur frequently and occasionally make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help improve your score.
