Student answer (Band 5.5)
The given situation illustrates that in most of the countries of this world, there is a co-education system. I completely disagree with the given scenario as i think that students can get benefit from each other in various useful ways if they study in co-education. I strongly believe that studying in combine education system for both girls and boys brings a lot of ways to the lives of the students through which they can get benefit from each other. Adding more to my explanation, in a same class where girls and boys are studying at the same time under the same room, students can learn how to perform or speak in an audience of opposite gender. When students answer to the questions of their teachers in front of their fellows from other gender, they develop in themselves a strong confidence which is very good quality of a brilliant student. By doing the group activities, students learn about the behavior of their friends and it leads to develop the strong sense of dealing with people at different times of their lives. For instance, as I belong to a developing country and in my country the co-education usually starts at the university level so most of the students in the universities look nervous and dull. It takes almost two to three years for those students to build in them a strong foundation of confidence and a better way of conversation. When at universities, students give presentation in front of their whole class which involves both kind of students like girls and boys, a very fabulous and effective way of communication shows in them. In this modern age, it is very essential for all the young generations to adopt the best kind of communication and education skills in them and this is possible only when the students of this age study in a co-education system.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have clearly stated your position against single-sex education and maintained it throughout the essay. You provided relevant arguments regarding confidence and communication skills. However, the response is somewhat repetitive, and the development of ideas is limited. The essay would benefit from a more balanced approach, perhaps acknowledging the opposing view before refuting it, which would demonstrate a more sophisticated engagement with the prompt. Additionally, the essay lacks a formal conclusion, which is a key component of a well-structured task response. To improve, ensure you fully address the prompt by exploring the potential benefits of single-sex education briefly before explaining why you disagree.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is coherent, and there is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'For instance' and 'In this modern age', to link your thoughts. However, the paragraphing is insufficient; the entire response is written as one large block of text. Proper paragraphing is essential for IELTS to separate your introduction, main body points, and conclusion. Furthermore, some transitions are a bit mechanical or repetitive, such as 'Adding more to my explanation'. Improving the use of linking words and organizing your essay into clear paragraphs will significantly enhance the flow and readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, but it is somewhat basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'get benefit from each other' and 'good quality' are used multiple times. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'combine education system' instead of 'co-educational system' and 'under the same room' instead of 'in the same classroom'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary and avoid repeating the same phrases. Using synonyms and more sophisticated word choices will help demonstrate a wider range of lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'in most of the countries of this world' (unnecessary 'of'), 'i' (should be capitalized), 'in a same class' (should be 'in the same class'), and 'both kind of students' (should be 'both kinds of students'). While your meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in articles, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading your work to catch these minor but frequent errors.
