Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, here has been a considerable debate whether the education should be co or students benefit from being educated separately. Most of the individuals believe in separate education, however I strongly disagree with it.
On the one hand, many parents prefer to enroll their children in single-gender school. Because of the fear of spoiling their children and giving them freedom, they keep them away from the company of the opposite gender. They consider it as an irrelevant to their children upbringing. Moreover, resisting their children from not even meeting the opposite gender, force them to start socializing secretly. For instance, parents living in Asian countries are so narrow minded that they take it to their heart. In countries like Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, children are taught to stay away from the opposite gender since their childhood. As a result, growing up with the same gender never provide you an opportunity to understand the other gender and then by the age of thirty, a successful marriage is expected from the same person.
On the other hand, I generally believe that students should get the opportunity to study in co-education. It not only boosts your confidence, but also develops your socializing skills with shaping your future with confidence. Furthermore, sharing ideas together and presenting presentations as a team improves student's communication skills and the experience of teamwork, which will be beneficial in the future. In contrast, people who have completed their degree from a co-educational institution are more likely to enhance their abilities in the outer world.
In conclusion, majority of parents have the same old mindset, while many should change this opinion and allow their children to interact with the opposite gender.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified the two sides of the argument and provided reasons for your stance. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation regarding why single-sex education leads to 'secret' socializing is a bit anecdotal and could be more academically grounded. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully summarize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure that each point is supported with more detailed reasoning or a more robust example to fully explore the implications of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Furthermore.' However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the discussion of Asian countries and the conclusion is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the use of 'it' in 'They consider it as an irrelevant to their children upbringing,' where the antecedent is ambiguous. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'co-educational' and 'socializing skills.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'here has been a considerable debate' (should be 'there'), 'irrelevant to their children upbringing' (should be 'irrelevant to their children's upbringing'), and 'resisting their children' (should be 'restricting'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement. For example, 'the education should be co' is incomplete, and 'never provide you an opportunity' should be 'does not provide.' Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor errors, such as the missing possessive apostrophe in 'student's communication skills' (should be plural 'students''). These errors are noticeable but rarely cause confusion for the reader. To reach a higher band, focus on increasing the accuracy of your complex sentence structures and proofreading for basic grammatical slips.
