Student answer (Band 6.0)

Co-education or mixed school system is adopted in different nations of the world whereas many people also believe that both genders will benefit from receiving education in single-sex schools. I do not agree with the belief that there should be separate schools based on gender because it does not promote mutual respect and social skills.

Educational institute created with a division of sex benefits by students focusing on their studies without the distraction and peer pressure of impressing the other gender. Furthermore, teachers can tailor their teaching style according to the learning style which suits the students better for their understanding. Even though, people reason with these benefits, it often overlooks that this system does not provide a real world situation which may alter a students performance when the environment is changed in future. Other than that, teachers are professionals with the understanding of students mind and can devise a style applicable for male and females to unlock their potential.

Co-education system are more beneficial as compared to single-sex schools because it allows male and female to have a respectful interaction within the boundaries of their society and culture. When a divide is created based on any factor, it leads to curiosity which can lead any student to explore through harmful options available to them. Furthermore, it teaches students on how to behave with the other gender, how to talk which contributes to their social skills. Students from mixed schools depict more confidence in comparison to single-sex schools because of developed social skills through an environment provided to them.

In conclusion, educational institute with co-education provides benefit to students that help them more in real life because of the environment that depicts a real world situation in which you can learn social skills and mutual respect.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have clearly addressed the prompt and maintained a consistent position throughout the essay. You acknowledge the opposing view regarding single-sex education before providing your own argument in favor of co-education. The ideas are relevant, such as the development of social skills and the importance of real-world preparation. However, some points could be further extended; for instance, the claim that single-sex schools lead to 'harmful options' is a strong assertion that requires more specific explanation or evidence to be fully convincing. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the task well, providing a balanced yet firm perspective.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Even though', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your argument. However, there are some minor issues with flow and referencing. For example, the phrase 'Even though, people reason with these benefits' is slightly awkward and lacks a clear connection to the previous sentence. Additionally, some sentences are a bit repetitive in their structure. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would help elevate the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'co-educational', 'mutual respect', and 'unlock their potential'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'educational institute created with a division of sex' and 'explore through harmful options'. While these do not impede communication, they show a need for more precise collocation. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are contextually accurate. Your spelling is generally accurate throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For instance, 'Co-education system are' should be 'Co-education systems are', and 'a students performance' should be 'a student's performance'. There are also minor issues with article usage and pluralization, such as 'teachers are professionals with the understanding of students mind'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and possessive apostrophes will improve your accuracy.
