Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many countries girls and boys are taught together in same schools, but many people argue that girls and boys benefit from being educated individually in separate schools. I completely disagree with this view, because students who study together are more confident than those girls and boys who study separately, how ever few restrictions should also be taken into consideration.

Teaching students in co-educational schools have many advantages for the students. They learn how to response to a mix audience. Students also focus on their grooming and wellness. Both genders, who are taught in mixed environment are more mannerly. In addition to this such students gain more confidence as they daily interact with the opposite gender. Despite getting attracted to the other gender, which is a natural fact, they understand that this is the daily routine to interact with male and females.

Moreover this also creates overall a positive impact on the society, as there remains no discrimination between the genders.

On the other hand, both genders should know their limits while interacting with the each other and should consider this as a part of their routine. In contrast to this, students who have studied in separate schools thinks of working with the opposite gender a big deal. Other than these restrictions, boys and girls should be taught together as it will also help them in future when they will work in co-environment.

In conclusion, boys and girls should be educated together rather than being educated separately as it will make them more confident.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that co-education builds confidence and prepares students for the workplace, these points are stated rather than fully extended with detailed examples or logical depth. The argument regarding 'restrictions' is a bit vague and could have been better integrated into the main argument to support your stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph contains a clear topic sentence followed by specific, well-explained supporting evidence or real-world examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition to this', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion'. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the benefits of co-education and the mention of 'restrictions' is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'such students') is always precise will help improve the overall flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'co-educational', 'gender', and 'discrimination'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'how ever few restrictions should also be taken into consideration' and 'big deal'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid informal phrasing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated synonyms for common words will help demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement ('Teaching students... have many advantages' should be 'has') and article usage ('in same schools' should be 'in the same schools'). Additionally, there are punctuation issues, such as the comma splice in the first paragraph. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately.
