Student answer (Band 6.0)
Although some argue that boys and girls educated separately in single-sex schools, I believe that co-educational schools offer much better advantages to the students overall. While single-sex schools may offer a bit of academic advantage over mixed schools, mixed schools make young people develop important social skills and prepare them for their adult lives.
One of the advantage that single-sex school that may offer is either boys or girls may bit more focused towards academics. In adolesence, students usually tend to develop interest in opposite sex; this will in turn reduce the focus of the students and increase distractions. As a result, studying in single-sex school completely shuts of these type of distractions. Additionally, some students feel comfortable with same sex for doing certain activities and often will distracted or tensed when the opposite gender is present. For example, a student may confidently answer to questions or participate in events when there is only the same sex but feels undermined in the presence of opposite sex.
However, I believe that co-ed schools offer much more advantages to build ones personality and social skills that prepares them for their future. When students often learn, study and grow with opposite sen in co-ed school, they not only feel distracted but they get to prepare for the life ahead of them. Students will learn the correct social skills and reponsibilties they have towards the opposite gender and also build the confidence required to face their future with respect to opposite gender. This also helps them correct gender stereotypes that may create problems in future if left unsolved.
In conclusion, I believe tha co-ed schools has much more to offer to students than academics and make students reponsible for their future when compared to same-sex schools which may only prepare the students to be academic-centric.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have presented arguments for both sides, though the focus remains firmly on the benefits of co-education. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, such as the discussion on social skills and gender stereotypes. However, some points could be developed further; for instance, the claim that single-sex schools are 'academic-centric' is a broad generalization that could benefit from more specific evidence or nuance. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the prompt, demonstrating a clear understanding of the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'As a result', and 'However' to link ideas effectively. While the paragraphing is appropriate, some transitions between sentences feel slightly mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, though there are minor issues with article usage and pluralization that occasionally affect the flow. Overall, the structure is coherent and supports the development of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'adolescence', 'undermined', and 'gender stereotypes'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'opposite sen' (opposite sex), 'reponsibilties' (responsibilities), and 'tha' (that). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring accuracy in spelling and word form. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the conditional 'When students often learn... they not only feel... but they get to...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('co-ed schools has', 'one of the advantage') and article usage ('in single-sex school'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede your ability to communicate your ideas. To improve, pay closer attention to pluralization and subject-verb consistency. Your control of punctuation is generally good, but the recurring grammatical slips prevent the writing from reaching a higher level of accuracy.
