Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many parts of the world, girls and boys are educated together in co-educational or mixed schools. Some people think that girls and boys benefit from being educated separately in single-sex schools.

Yes, I agree with the thinking of that some people. From my point of view, girls and boys maturing together can be the cause of having feeling for each other. They can study well to compete and they can feel not to disrespect themselves in front of the other sex. They will study well in good manners. They try hard to score well. They put themselves first and also respect the other sex.

Yes, it also has cons, but if we look further into it, it is manageable. I'm a boy, and I also studied in a mixed school, and I learned one thing that is I've to respect the opposite gender. My school taught me not to play with others' feelings. Try to be the best and the lovely one in others' eyes.

In this way, students grow in good manners and know how to respect others. Our Authorities should also manage this in a way that they provide students with good professors and surroundings. Its not always the student's fault; it's the surroundings' fault, provided by the authorities and the student's home.

If the student is raised in good surroundings, It will never happen that a student misbehaves with someone. But authorities and the parents should keep an eye on what their children are doing. They are getting good grades or not.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt but lacks the depth required for a higher band. While you state your agreement, the arguments provided are somewhat repetitive and rely heavily on personal anecdotes rather than a balanced discussion of the educational benefits of single-sex versus co-educational systems. The points regarding 'respect' and 'good manners' are relevant but are not fully developed into a cohesive argument about academic or social outcomes. To improve, you should explore specific advantages of single-sex education, such as tailored teaching styles or reduced social pressure, and provide a more structured comparison to support your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed. The transition between your personal experience and the broader discussion about 'authorities' is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often basic or repetitive (e.g., 'In this way', 'Yes, it also has cons'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between 'maturing together' and 'disrespect' is not logically linked. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally functional but limited. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'study well', 'good manners', and 'good surroundings'. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety in word choice prevents the essay from demonstrating the precision required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to education and social development, and avoid repeating the same adjectives like 'good' throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'I agree with the thinking of that some people' (awkward phrasing), 'I've to respect' (incorrect contraction usage), and 'Its not always the student's fault' (missing apostrophe). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and punctuation. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To reach a higher band, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, punctuation, and ensuring that complex structures are used accurately.
