Student answer (Band 6.0)

Generally, both genders are educated in the same schools. Some people are of the opinion that girls benefit more from being taught in only girls school. I totally disagree with this view, both genders should be taught to coexist and build social skills among themselves.

Both girls and boys should be taught in the same classroom because, it teaches them to coexist to learn to live with each other regardless of their gender or age. It helps them understand to relate better with one and other. It similarly put them on the same peature stone and gives them the same opportunity to related better with the world, outside the four corner of classroom. Both genders do not just learn Maths and English language in school they learn to communicate.

Mixed schools give then the opportunity to learn social skills like communication. A shared classroom teaches students (both genders) to work together respectfully, while respecting the other genders barriers. A mixed classroom brings together different ideas and approach enriching problem solving skills and enriched discussions. For example research by the university of Nigerian has show that co-educational environment prepares student for the real world and future work environment.

Single-sex schools promote the traditional gender stereotype. In most traditions there is a stereotype that boys are better than girls and higher than them and that they should not be equal. Single-sex schools promote this mind set. It similar does not bring student together and to prepare them for the world outside the school were they would have to work together.

It is my opinion, mixed schools teaches students of both genders social skills like communication and also barriers . It teaches both gender to coexist at the earliest stage and challenges stereotype from different traditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have clearly stated your position against single-sex education and maintained this stance throughout the essay. You provide relevant arguments regarding social skills, communication, and the preparation for real-world environments. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the point about 'coexisting' is mentioned in almost every paragraph. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples—such as the mention of the University of Nigeria—by explaining how exactly their findings support your claim, rather than just stating them. The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, but the depth of analysis remains somewhat superficial.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'For example' and 'In most traditions', to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are missing or awkward, such as the start of the second paragraph. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear; for example, 'it' is used frequently without a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally from the previous one would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your opinions clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'co-educational', 'gender stereotype', and 'social skills'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'peature stone' (likely meant 'playing field') and 'four corner of classroom'. These errors occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on using collocations more accurately and expanding your range of academic vocabulary to avoid repeating basic terms like 'taught' and 'learn'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an ability to use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'mixed schools teaches') and punctuation errors (e.g., 'classroom because, it teaches'). There are also issues with articles and pluralization, such as 'in only girls school' and 'research by the university of Nigerian has show'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would be beneficial.
