Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both sides of the argument, the points are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence. For instance, the examples provided regarding India and England are vague and do not clearly illustrate how these systems function or why they are beneficial. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and specific examples to ensure the task is fully addressed. The conclusion is also contradictory, as it states you advocate for single-sex schools but fails to explain why, leaving your position unclear.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Transitions between sentences are often abrupt, such as in the final paragraph where the sentences 'But I have sound reasons to advocate that although single sex schools are better. But challenges it poses should not be overlooked' are fragmented and lack logical flow. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences are connected smoothly to create a more cohesive argument throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band score. You rely on basic terms like 'good way' and 'people choose', which are repetitive. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'separately education' instead of 'separate education' and 'communication together' instead of 'communicate with each other'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to education and social development, and pay closer attention to the correct form of words in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Education play a vital role' (subject-verb agreement), 'children used to separately education' (incorrect word form), and 'In England has co-educational schools' (incorrect sentence structure). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct word forms, and sentence construction. Proofreading your work for these common errors will help improve your accuracy significantly.
