Student answer (Band 5.5)

In some areas of the world girls and boys are studying in the co-educational system, compared to some regions which provide separate services for education. A few individuals argue that both sexes should be educated separately. I am totally disagree with this staement because co-education make the girls to be confident. On the other hand it teach the boys, how to respect the opposite gender.

Firstly, combine education can make the girls to take stand for themselves. Furthermore, when girls study in co-system it provide the similar opportunities to them as boys. For intance, In some underdeveloped areas the boys are considered the privilaged gender by birth due to some social norms. Sometimes, people send their male children to the high standard private schools and admit the girls in less expensive schools. Consequently, the low budget schools does not provide the best learning and grooming opportunities for student so the girls remain under confidence and they have to suffer thier whole life. So by giving good opportunities girls get success in every field.

secondaly, when boys grow with girls in same education system they see them as ambitious as they are. Furthermore, boys get healthy competition from girls and start giving care and respect to girls. For example, the boys from good co-education have more decent attitude towards the girls.

In conclusion, I totally disagree with the arguement that boys and girls get more benefit from separate schooling. In fact, a better co- education can play a significant role in a better future of both genders and make them responsible and sensible. If we make proper co-education for both male and female we can help them in their grooming.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of co-education. The ideas are relevant, focusing on confidence-building for girls and the development of respect in boys. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'underdeveloped areas' and 'low budget schools' is a bit tangential to the core debate of single-sex versus co-educational systems. To reach a higher band, you should focus more on the pedagogical or social benefits of the systems themselves rather than socio-economic disparities in school funding. The position is consistent throughout, but the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. There are also instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the discussion of school budgets and the conclusion of the first body paragraph. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of ideas could be smoother with more varied linking phrases and better integration of supporting points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use basic terms like 'good', 'better', and 'make', which are repetitive. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'co-system' instead of 'co-educational environment' and 'under confidence' instead of 'lack of confidence'. While the meaning is always clear, the lexical range is limited, and there is little attempt to use less common or more sophisticated vocabulary to express complex ideas. Expanding your repertoire of academic collocations would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the low budget schools does not provide'), incorrect article usage ('the co-educational system'), and awkward phrasing ('I am totally disagree'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in capitalization and spacing. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining your use of articles and prepositions. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while ensuring they are error-free will also help raise your score.
