Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is severely under-length, containing only 73 words compared to the required 250-word minimum. Because the essay is incomplete and fails to address the prompt fully or develop a position adequately, it falls into the lower band categories for Task Achievement. While the student touches upon the benefits of mixed schools such as preparing students for workplaces, the lack of development, absence of a proper introduction and conclusion, and failure to meet the minimum length constraint significantly impact the score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

Although the text is very short, there is a basic logical progression from general education to the specific benefits of mixed schools. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Additionally', to link ideas together. However, paragraphing is not effectively managed, with multiple disjointed ideas grouped into a single block of text. Due to the extreme brevity, overall organization is limited, placing this criterion at a lower band level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a basic vocabulary with attempts at less common words, such as 'awkardness', 'interaction', and 'steriotypes'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('awkardness' instead of 'awkwardness', 'steriotypes' instead of 'stereotypes') and minor issues with phrasing and punctuation. The lexical range is minimally adequate for the few sentences produced, but insufficient to sustain a higher score due to recurring errors and limited breadth.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writing shows a mix of simple sentence forms and one attempted complex structure ('Workplaces, universities and communities consists of...'). There are grammatical inaccuracies, such as subject-verb agreement ('communities consists') and punctuation spacing errors (extra spaces before periods). Given the very limited output, the range of grammatical structures is restricted, but basic meaning is generally communicated without total breakdown.
