Student answer (Band 5.5)

In most of the parts of world both boys and girls are taking education together in the form of co education or in the schools where half of the students are boys and other half are girls in a classroom but I completely agree with this point of view they should study separately.

In co educational system or the schools in which both boys and girls study in the same classroom has some benefits and also have drawbacks. If an environment of co education is provided to every student from the start they become more confident and the hesitation to talk to any girl will be completely removed in future. They can share their educational ideas with each other and gain very useful information. For example they develop self esteem confidence and can work easily with prestigious companies in which both girls and boys are present in future. This kind of development are the result of co education.

Apart from that, some people in many regions of worlds believe that the benefits girls and boys gain in single sex school is far more greater then co educational system. It is due to they want their children to fully engage into studies and have no distractions, they think their children needs an atmosphere where they can easily communicate with teachers without being having the fair of insult or any hesitation. For example boys and girls feels confused in front of each other when its time to ask something from teacher or to present anything in class, but the main reason why many thing this is due to respect prospective.

Overall, I myself also completely agree with this both boys and girls should study individually because students will not focus on their studies will become adults before time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both co-educational systems and single-sex schools, ultimately taking a clear position that students should be educated separately. However, the development of ideas is limited and sometimes repetitive. The student mentions benefits of co-education such as confidence and reduced hesitation, and then moves on to single-sex schooling where distractions are minimized. Yet, the arguments lack deep elaboration and relevant specific examples from personal knowledge, relying instead on generalized statements like 'boys and girls feels confused in front of each other.' While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the ideas are somewhat under-developed, aligning best with Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into clear paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides of the issue, and a concluding stance. Cohesive devices such as 'Apart from that', 'For example', and 'Overall' are used to structure the text, though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Logical progression is evident between paragraphs, but referencing and sentence-level cohesion occasionally falter, such as the run-on sentences in the opening paragraph and the abrupt shifts in the final conclusion. Overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow the writer's line of thought without significant confusion, fitting the criteria for Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'co-educational', 'prestigious companies', and 'distractions'. However, there are notable limitations and word-choice errors, such as 'taking education together', 'respect prospective' (perspective), and incorrect prepositional usage ('in many parts of world'). Repetition of basic terms like 'boys and girls' occurs frequently throughout the essay. The errors in word choice and collocation do not severely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though complex structures are frequently marred by grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement problems ('this kind of development are', 'boys and girls feels'), missing articles ('in world'), and run-on structures without proper punctuation, particularly in the introduction and conclusion. While meaning remains generally clear despite these errors, the high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies prevents the response from achieving a Band 6, placing it firmly at Band 5.0.
