Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The student attempts to address the prompt regarding co-education versus single-sex schools, taking a clear stance in favour of mixed schools. However, the response fails to meet the minimum word count of 250 words, stopping at only 141 words. Because of this severe under-length, the ideas are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth and examples expected in an Academic Task 2 essay. The student attempts to present some relevant arguments concerning confidence and communication skills, but these points remain superficial. Consequently, this heavily impacts the task achievement score, matching the lower-band descriptors for inadequate development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The response lacks standard essay paragraphing and is presented as a single, rushed block of text. Cohesive devices are minimal and basic, with run-on sentences and a lack of logical transitions between ideas. Phrases such as 'When people are studing toghather...' and 'For example i am preparing...' do not establish a clear structural progression. The flow is frequently disrupted by missing punctuation and fragmented clauses, making it difficult for the reader to follow the train of thought. While there is a basic attempt to sequence ideas from introduction to personal example, the overall organization falls well short of coherent essay standards.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The lexical range is very limited and basic. The student relies heavily on simple, repetitive vocabulary such as 'study', 'people', 'speak', and 'girls and boys'. There are multiple spelling errors ('benificial', 'opiniun', 'sence', 'studing', 'toghather', 'conversate') and awkward word choices ('dressing sence', 'all type people'). While the intended meaning can occasionally be discerned despite the errors, the lack of precision and appropriate academic collocation keeps the lexical score in the lower band range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely restricted. The text consists mostly of simple and poorly controlled compound sentences connected loosely with conjunctions. There is a complete lack of accurate complex structures. Frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, subject-verb agreement, and tense consistency severely hinder readability (e.g., 'my speaking very improve', 'before that i am not able to speak', 'How i should talk'). The density of basic grammatical errors means that error-free sentences are very rare.
