Student answer (Band 5.5)
In my opinion, the idea of educating girls and boys in separate schools is just a decision made without observation. In co-educational institutes, what I observed is that most of the boys and girls are so confident, they have the ability to raise voice for their rights. Some people think of separate eduction for girls and boys and the main reason behind making this decision i is distraction and relationships between students. However, the solution to this problem is not separating the schools because each student has an easy access to the internet and social media and they stilll can distracted and be in relationship. The solution to the problem is to make things clear to both genders about their goals and instead of being asked to work separately. explain the stragegy of team work and what positivity it will bring to their lives. Its all about mindset, the way you train your generation it will give result in that way. In Pakistan, most of the parents in small cities prefer for the girls to be in separate schools and when that girl move to the big city for higher education or job purposes, she beome insecure and demotivated due to the lack of confidence and amking her point clear in front of different gender. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the topic of co-educational versus single-sex schooling and presents a clear position against separate education. The ideas are relevant and supported with a personal example from Pakistan illustrating the social consequences of attending single-sex schools. However, the response fails to meet the minimum word count of 250 words, as it contains only 240 words. This under-length impacts the full development of ideas, which prevents the score from reaching a higher band. While the position is understandable and ideas are introduced, some points remain slightly under-developed due to the truncated length.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a clear overall progression of ideas, moving from the introduction of the writer's stance to arguments against distraction, solutions involving teamwork, and a real-world example from Pakistan. Paragraphing is attempted, though the formatting is somewhat cluttered in the student's input. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Therefore', and 'instead of' are used to connect ideas, although referencing is occasionally weak, as seen with ambiguous pronouns like 'it will give result in that way'. Overall, the logical structure is acceptable for a Band 6, though cohesion can sometimes feel slightly mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'co-educational institutes', 'demotivated', and 'insecure'. However, there are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'eduction' instead of 'education', 'i is', 'stilll', 'stragegy', 'amking', 'There fore', and 'te pos'. These lexical errors and typos occasionally cause minor strain for the reader, placing the lexical resource firmly at the Band 5.5 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional ideas and relative clauses such as 'the way you train your generation it will give result in that way' and 'when that girl move to the big city'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement ('girl move', 'she beome'), missing articles, and punctuation slips. While communication is not entirely impeded, the high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies means that error-free sentences are not in the majority.
