Student answer (Band 5.0)

Education has a wide range of importance in both sex i.e

boys and girls. As we, all know, students in many part of

world are educated together with without having concern

to genders. But this concept has been contradicted by many

people at single sex schools benefit specific gender of

people in broader range. I believe it is totally wrong

concept and I partly agree with this view.

Firstly, this practice has been performed by less institution in

any part of the world. But into my perspective i have

saw that type of institution in our Locality where

the university is adapting single-sex school especi-

ally for girls. This university adapt this strategy for

less harassment that they have faced from collegues

and professor. But in recent days, i heard news about

that uni, they had used opposite gender professor which

only girl say that it is not worth having same sex college.

After research of my own, the girls weren't comfostred

as same-sex schools because teacher were likely

to harass even freely.

This was the example from my own Locality. But

in my opinions, school must be mixed in order to mainta-

in relation friendship without having negative effect on

them. Gender is natural but our intent must be positive

in teaching learning process. Mary believe schools must

be same gender because to ensure children safety,

but we all know that school is a safe place

for all type of children and individual must

remove each type of concept from their mind.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the prompt regarding single-sex versus co-educational schools, stating a position that they 'partly agree with this view.' However, the development of ideas is heavily hindered by unclear phrasing and confusing anecdotes, such as the personal example about a local university that introduced single-sex classes to reduce harassment but then supposedly used opposite-gender professors, leading to further confusion. While the response touches upon the core debate—touching on safety, harassment, and social development—the arguments remain largely underdeveloped and difficult to follow due to poor articulation. Because the response addresses the prompt overall but lacks clear, well-extended support, it aligns best with Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is divided into three paragraphs, providing some basic visual structure, but the internal organisation and progression of ideas are weak. The introduction establishes a stance awkwardly, and the transition between paragraphs feels disjointed ('This was the example from my own Locality'). Cohesive devices are used minimally and often inaccurately, leading to a choppy and mechanical flow. Referencing is frequently unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'they' and 'that uni,' making it hard to follow who or what is being referred to. There is an overall lack of clear progression, which places this performance firmly at Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a very limited range of vocabulary, relying heavily on basic and repetitive words ('importance', 'people', 'school', 'gender'). There are frequent word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'importance in both sex i.e boys and girls', 'comfostred', and 'same gender' instead of single-sex. Furthermore, spelling and morphological errors—such as 'especi-ally' and 'collegues'—are noticeable. These limitations and errors occasionally cause strain and confusion for the reader, matching the key descriptors for Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The student uses a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by basic conjunctions. Attempts at more complex structures are frequently faulty and ungrammatical, as seen in phrases like 'students in many part of world are educated together with without having concern to genders' and 'after research of my own, the girls weren't comfostred as same-sex schools because teacher were likely to harass even freely.' Grammatical errors—including missing plural markers, incorrect prepositions, subject-verb agreement issues, and tense inconsistencies—are very frequent and consistently impede understanding throughout the text, fitting the Band 4 descriptors.
