Student answer (Band 5.5)

Co-education brings opposite genders together by providing a non-discriminant academic environment. Some people think that separate school system for both genders will be more benficial, while other argue that co-educational system is better for them. However, I strongly disagree with the notion because girls and boys studying at the same school will introduce career growth benefits along with better team work for them.

To commence with, co-eduactional school systems are more suitable studying environment for both girls and boys.Career development and professional growth can be achieved only when there will be an education system providing equal chances to grow and excel in their fields of studies. Boys and girls with different skill set and talent can give economical benefits to the society. When they study in an environment like this, they will work more efficeintly in their fields without considering opposite gender as a hurdle for them.

Moreover, mixed school systems provides healthy competition for both of them. When girls and boys during their schooling, study in mixed school system they are more likely to achieve more success because they compete with their opposite gender in terms of academic and extra co-curricular activities. They work more hard to take lead in their tasks from eachother. Thus, a positive competion is developed and students grow well. For instance, on of my niece is having a good career than the other boys who studied in single-sex schools.

In the conclusion, it has become evident that mixed school systems are better to provide excxellent growth and good educational competition for both girls and boys.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position against single-sex schools and in favour of co-educational systems. The main ideas presented include career growth benefits and healthy competition. However, these ideas are somewhat underdeveloped and lean towards over-generalisation. For instance, the argument regarding economic benefits lacks specific elaboration, and the personal example provided about a niece is brief and anecdotal. While the task is adequately addressed to meet a Band 6.0 level, the extension and support of ideas require greater depth and clearer real-world examples to achieve a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Basic cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'In the conclusion'. However, referencing and transitions are at times mechanical or faulty, as seen in awkward phrasing like 'When girls and boys during their schooling, study in mixed school system'. Paragraphing is present and separates the main points appropriately, but internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks the fluidity and flexibility expected at Band 7.0, preventing a higher grade.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common items such as 'non-discriminant', 'professional growth', and 'extra co-curricular activities'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'benficial' instead of beneficial, 'co-eduactional' instead of co-educational, 'efficeintly' instead of efficiently, and 'competion' instead of competition. Additionally, phrasing like 'work more hard' is inaccurate. These lexical and spelling errors indicate a Band 5.0 level, as they occasionally cause minor distractions for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structures. However, grammatical and punctuation errors are frequent throughout the response. Examples include missing articles ('study in mixed school system'), incorrect prepositions or clunky phrasing ('on of my niece is having a good career than the other boys'), and punctuation issues surrounding transitional phrases. While these errors rarely impede overall communication entirely, their frequency keeps the grammar performance firmly within the Band 5.0 descriptor range.
