Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many parts of the world girls and boys are educated under the same roof in mixed or co-educational schools. Some people argue that it would be more advantageous if girls and boys are educated separately in single-sex schools. Both set-ups have their own advantages; however, I support the education in mixed schools.
On one hand, girls and boys are educated in the same classroom in many parts of the world. It has both advantages and disadvantages. Firstly,It is beneficial because it addresses the space problem that would otherwise arise. Secondly, it encourages positive competition among boys and girls, which may help them later in professional and social life. Thirdly, both genders welcome healthy criticism in class; therefore, they will emerge as more resilient individuals in professional life.
On the other hand, some people challenge the co-educational system due to its disadvantages outweighing its advantages. The co-educational setup is not liked and encouraged by many societies and religions in the world. Therefore, single-sex schools should be established to respect the sentiments of the individuals who belong to them. In addition, co-educational system may arise some moral cocerns which otherwise may not. There are some students belong to both genders who feel reluctant to perform in front of opposite gender due to bullying and fear of it cannot be ruled out entirely. However, they outshine their peers when they are kept in single-sex schools. So, singl-sex schools prevent their performance from being affected.
In my opinion co-educational schools are doing more good than harm to students ,as it resolves space issues, boosts students' confidence so it should not only be kept intact but also magnified around the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages of single-sex education and mixed-school education, eventually establishing a clear position supporting co-educational schools. The writer outlines several supporting points, such as addressing space problems, encouraging positive competition, and building resilience. However, some ideas lack deep extension and remain slightly generalized, particularly when discussing moral concerns and bullying in the counter-argument paragraph. Despite these minor limitations, the main parts of the task are adequately covered, and the personal stance is maintained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into four paragraphs, including a clear introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a brief conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Firstly', and 'Secondly' are used to structure the text logically, although some linking phrases are slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different perspectives. However, referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the final paragraph where the pronoun 'it' creates a slightly ambiguous link regarding what should be kept intact and magnified.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The candidate demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'advantageous', 'resilient', 'sentiments', and 'magnified'. There are, however, some word-choice inaccuracies and awkward collocations, such as 'co-educational system may arise some moral cocerns' (where 'raise' or 'give rise to' is intended) and the spelling error 'cocerns'. Despite these lexical slips, the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without impeding communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional ideas and relative clauses. There are instances of good grammatical control, but several errors persist throughout the text. Examples include punctuation errors like missing spaces after commas and periods ('Firstly,It'), prepositional awkwardness ('education in mixed schools'), and incorrect verb phrasing ('fear of it cannot be ruled out entirely' followed by a disjointed clause). While these errors are noticeable, they do not severely impede overall comprehension.
