Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, in educational institutes from around the world boys and girls are educated in mixed or co educational environment. Some people argue that boys and girls should be taught in seperate schools. I partialy agree with this view because both view have benefits and drawbacks.

On the one hand, in single sex schools male students focus on study properly. Due to fact that they do not attrtact toward opposite gender which makes them to concentrate on academic without invloving in other activties. It improve there knowldge in schooling and lead to better performance. Furthermore, in some regions around the world co-education is banned for example in north korea together schooling is totaly prohabitted so in korea majority of learner only focus on study which produce many genius minds in the nation.

On the other hand, there are several benefits learning in co-educational schools. Firstly, it develop confidence in students. When they perform in same class with opposite sex learners or in educational seminar infront of them it boost thier confidence level. Moreover, it enable the pupils how to deal with other gender in proper manner which aid them in later professional or working life to work without hesitation in work place with opposite sex indivduals. therfore, study in proper co-educational system make them to face pressure in front of opposite sex. For instance, in China schools both male and female scholars study at same school so most of them are very bold communication skills.

In conclusion, I think that seperate study classes in schools have many positive aspects like student focus on study well. However, co-educational setting make them bold and teach them how to connect with another gender person.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument regarding single-sex and co-educational schooling, presenting a clear position that the writer partially agrees with both views. Key ideas are presented, such as increased focus in single-sex environments and improved confidence and social skills in co-educational settings. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and relies on unsupported assertions and sweeping generalisations, such as claiming North Korea completely prohibits mixed schooling to produce genius minds, and mentioning China without deeper context. This places the response comfortably at Band 6, as all parts are addressed with relevant ideas, but some remain under-developed or unclear.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs addressing each side of the argument, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and logical progression are occasionally flawed, as seen in abrupt jumps between ideas and repetitive phrasing. Furthermore, some transitional sentences feel mechanical or awkward, such as 'therfore, study in proper co-educational system make them to face pressure'. Overall, the logical flow is present, but cohesion is sometimes faulty or repetitive, fitting Band 6 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'co-educational', 'concentrate on academic', and 'communication skills'. However, there are numerous lexical and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'partialy' instead of partially, 'attrtact' for attract, 'invloving' for involving, 'knowldge' for knowledge, 'prohabitted' for prohibited, and 'indivduals' for individuals. Word choices are sometimes imprecise or unnatural, such as 'study properly' instead of study effectively. These errors are frequent enough to detract from precision, but they do not severely impede overall communication, aligning the vocabulary profile with a Band 5.5 to 6.0 level; a Band 6.0 is awarded as meaning remains clear despite inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating subordinating conjunctions like 'Due to fact that' and 'When they perform'. However, grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors in basic structures, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples include 'boys and girls are educated in mixed or co educational environment' (missing article), 'male students focus on study properly' (awkward infinitive/gerund usage), 'It improve there knowldge' (agreement and spelling), and 'it enable the pupils how to deal' (incorrect verb complementation). Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent, particularly with country names like 'north korea'. Because complex sentences are frequently faulty and errors recur across the text, the performance fits the Band 5 descriptor.
