Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the prompt by discussing co-educational and single-sex schools, yet the position taken is somewhat confused. In the introduction, the writer states they will discuss both sides of the debate, but then needlessly reiterates the prompt before concluding rather confusingly that they agree with co-education. The main body paragraphs touch on relevant ideas, such as reducing gender discrimination and fostering social bonding, but the examples provided (such as referencing Nepal and vague mentions of war) are heavily under-developed and lack clear logical extension. Furthermore, the final paragraph contradicts the neutral exploration expected in a balanced task response by abruptly leaning towards a personal preference without robust justification. Consequently, the performance aligns best with Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays basic structural organisation with clear paragraph divisions, but progression is frequently disrupted by repetitive phrasing and poor logical flow. For instance, the opening sentences rely on repetitive templates ('To begin with the statement, many parts of the world...') that obscure the main ideas. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'Moving to the other argument, some of the aspect claims...' where referencing is unclear and pronouns fail to point back effectively. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs is weak due to disjointed sentences and a lack of smooth transitional phrases. Overall, the structural framework is sufficient for an overall arrangement, but cohesion is mechanical and faulty, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a limited but minimally adequate vocabulary range suitable for addressing the topic with terms like 'co-educational', 'gender discrimination', and 'community'. However, noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate word choices frequently occur throughout the text, such as 'the gender discrimination was end', 'Both or the gender enjoy with each other', and 'mange the proper management'. Collocations are often unnatural, as seen in 'play a family environment' and 'promotes the peace and safe'. Spelling and word formation are problematic in places (e.g., 'mange' instead of manage, 'safe' instead of safety). These lexical limitations cause noticeable strain for the reader, placing the response firmly at Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the execution is heavily marred by frequent grammatical errors. There is a heavy reliance on basic structures combined with faulty complex forms. Examples of persistent errors include missing auxiliary verbs, incorrect verb tenses, and agreement issues, such as 'When this system applied the gender discrimination was end', 'In many county applied this programs', and 'When boys and girls educated from same schools'. Punctuation is also weak, with run-on constructions and lack of proper clause separation. Because frequent errors frequently impede smooth reading and cause difficulty for the reader, the grammar profile corresponds to Band 5.
