Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's time education is a very essential part of our lives. Not ony for boys but also for girls educating each and everyone of them has become very essential in today's time. In many broad minded areas, girls and boys are educated in a co-educational setup where girls and boys study together on in the same class.

Many regions where the people are not much educated still make bias on educating boys and not girls as they are made to do household chores, or where girls are been educated they are kept in the single-sex school where only boys are meant to sit with boys in classroom or girls are meant to sit with girls. In my opinion studying in a co-educational school makes a great diffrence rather than studying in the same sex school as both the parties get to learn alot about each other. As a girl, boys understand the concept of mannerism, hygiene and discipline on how to behave with women. Whereas as a boy, girls get to learn about sportsmanship, unity ad leadership. According to me boys are very much in discipline infront of girls and understand the concept of chivalry too. Being in the same school doesn't make the children aware about the society bcause in society you are meant to co-exist and it may be problematic.

So to conclude I'd say that being in and co-educational school is better for the students as it helps to built their character and their personalty better.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the debate between co-educational and single-sex schooling and presents a clear personal position that co-educational environments are superior. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and relies on sweeping, stereotyped assertions about gender differences, such as claiming girls learn sportsmanship and boys learn hygiene. While the writer attempts to support their view, the arguments remain under-developed and lack well-reasoned elaboration or concrete examples from personal experience. This places the response comfortably at Band 5.0, as it addresses the task and establishes a position, but the ideas lack the depth and extension required for higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text demonstrates a basic level of organisation, divided into an introduction, a body paragraph, and a brief conclusion. However, the overall progression is disrupted by abrupt shifts in ideas and weak cohesive devices. For instance, the transition between sentences feels mechanical, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of vague pronouns and phrases like 'both the parties'. Paragraphing is poorly handled, with the main body of the argument crammed into a single overly long and dense paragraph that covers multiple disparate points. Furthermore, repetitive sentence openings and basic transitional markers limit the flow, aligning the response with Band 5.0 descriptors for cohesion and paragraphing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication, but it lacks the range and precision needed for higher bands. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'co-educational', 'chivalry', and 'co-exist', but these are often accompanied by spelling errors like 'diffrence', 'bcause', 'built' (instead of build), and 'personalty'. Word choices are sometimes unnatural or imprecise, such as referring to groups of students as 'both the parties'. While the meaning is generally communicated despite these limitations, the frequent spelling inaccuracies and restricted lexical flexibility cap the score at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures frequently result in grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. There are notable issues with article usage, prepositions, and punctuation throughout the text, such as missing commas and run-on sentences. Examples of errors include 'Not ony for boys but also for girls educating each and everyone of them', 'make bias on educating', and 'girls are been educated'. While simple sentences are generally correct, frequent errors in more complex constructions cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the grammar score from reaching a Band 6.0.
