Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many countries, girls and boys are getting education together in different educational institutes. Some individuals feel that males and females can have more advantages, if they study seperately in single-gender schools. According to my view, I believe that it would be more beneficial for students to take classes together because it will foster confidence and respect for each other among males and females.
Co-education is very crucial for students to build confidence. If someone is confident, then he can communicate confidently with anyone. This can increase their chances of getting job or any other kind of opportunity. Consequently, we will have better professionals, those can work with anyone under any condition. For example, recent studies show that graduates from co-educational institutes are more encouraged and lead to more successful career in life.
On the other hand, those students, who are studying with the opposite genders, would become more respectful towards them. For having a peaceful environment, in which people can learn and grow togather. It is necessary to have equality and respect in the society. As a result, young people can have respect for eachother and those things would be more rewarding. For instance, in Japan every person is very respectful to others. That because of their upbringing in co-educational organizations, in which they learnt how every person is equal and how they can provide values to others.
Inconclusion, girls and boys are studying with each other in schools in many regions of the world. Some of the people think that if they do their studies seperately in single gender schools, It will be more beneficial. But I believe that if they study together it would be more rewarding because this can make them more confident and give them sense of respect for opposite gender.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the issue and clearly stating a personal position in favor of co-educational schools. The candidate extends ideas regarding confidence and respect, although some arguments lean towards generalisation without deep elaboration. For instance, the reference to Japan relies on a broad claim rather than specific evidence, which places this response comfortably at Band 6. The main parts of the task are covered, but the development of ideas could be more fully supported with richer examples to reach higher bands. However, the position remains clear throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, featuring an introduction, two body paragraphs supporting the writer's stance, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'For example', 'On the other hand', and 'As a result', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but minor awkwardness in logical progression exists, particularly in the third paragraph where the connection between gender mixing and societal harmony is stated rather than smoothly linked. Overall, the organizational structure is logical and easy to follow, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the writer's main points. There are attempts to use less common items and academic phrasing, such as 'foster confidence', 'peaceful environment', and 'upbringing', demonstrating a functional range. However, there are notable lexical errors and spelling mistakes, including 'seperately' (separately), 'togather' (together), 'eachother' (each other), and 'Inconclusion' (In conclusion). These errors do not impede communication because the intended meaning remains clear to the reader, placing this performance securely at Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional structures like 'If someone is confident, then he can communicate confidently...'. Grammatical control is moderate, with several minor errors present, such as 'getting education together' instead of 'getting an education together' or 'being educated together', and the relative clause error 'those can work with anyone' instead of 'who can work with anyone'. Punctuation errors, such as comma splices or unnecessary commas (e.g., 'schools, It will be more beneficial'), also occur. Despite these slips, they rarely impede communication, reflecting the characteristics of Band 6.
