Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is argued by some that a large proportion of males and females are studied together in mixed scholl in different parts of world . People usually beleive that girls and boys being fruitful by studying in single sex schools . I completely disccord with this beacause it can reduce mutual understanding amoung pupils and also ehance uneqaulity .

The most compelling reason behind it is thta it reduce mutual understanding amoung males and females . A significant number of students tend to study in double sex school because they find it more convenient and help in increasing mutual understanding . For an instance , in japan , a considerable population of educators from different genders are studying in same school due to which mutual understanding among different sexes has been increased . As a result , the friendship among male and female is also ehanced and men would better understand the women in other different relationships and women also tend to become more comfortable around men .

Another significant reason behind it is that it reduce the factor of discrimination between boys and girls . people often tend to studied their students in different schools but government enhanced the concept of same schools for both genders which reduce the topic of unequality amound male and females . For an instance , in US , different type of schools are build for different type of people . As a result , parents can took admissoin for their pupils on same school for girls and boys or for decrease ineqaulity .

Admittedly opponents argue that , it is not beneficial to built double sex schppl because they believe thta if different genders can study in same school it can leads to amny detrimentak activities . However , I beleive that this problem can be adressed through different policies made by the government and teachers also take care of students activities in school .

To conclude , it can be restated that although it has few limitations , I personally hold the view thta it is highly beneficial to increase understanding among pupils and reduce inequality between different gender .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear stance against single-sex schools and in favour of co-education, covering arguments related to mutual understanding and social equality. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times repetitive. For instance, the second and third body paragraphs both heavily lean on the idea of increasing mutual understanding and reducing inequality, but the supporting examples are vague and inaccurate. The example of Japan claiming educators from different genders are studying in the same school is confusing, and the US example lacks clarity. The position is clear throughout, but the arguments remain underdeveloped, aligning the response with a Band 5 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is organised into five paragraphs with an introduction, body paragraphs, an opposing view counter-argument, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, repetitive phrasing, and mechanical cohesive devices like 'For an instance' and 'Another significant reason behind it is that...'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow within paragraphs is hindered by poor referencing and weak connections between sentences, leading to an overall choppy structure. Cohesion is inadequate and at times inaccurate, placing this aspect of the writing firmly at Band 5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, featuring frequent spelling errors such as 'scholl' for school, 'beleive' for believe, 'disccord' for discord, 'beacause', 'amoung', 'ehance', 'uneqaulity', 'thta', and 'admissoin'. There are also awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'double sex school' instead of 'co-educational school'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary like 'compelling', 'detrimental', and 'overwhelming', but the heavy concentration of spelling mistakes and inaccurate lexical control significantly strains the reader, resulting in a Band 4.5 score, rounded to 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences frequently result in errors. There are persistent basic grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('educators from different genders are studying... has been increased', 'parents can took admissoin'), tense inconsistencies, and incorrect preposition use. Sentences often contain structural flaws, such as 'It is argued by some that a large proportion of males and females are studied together' and 'people often tend to studied their students in different schools'. Frequent grammatical errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5 descriptors.
