Student answer (Band 5.5)

Co-educational system is adopte in many countries in the wolrd. it is vital for grooming and building the personality of the students. However, many people review that male and female were beneficial by having single gender schools to study.

I strongly agree that single gender education system is more beneficial for the students. Firstly, students get relaxed in the class as same gender is studying with them by which their interest of studying significantly rise. Furthermore, not only have positive impact on their studies but also on their grooming as in the class the environment become more comfortable for students due to having same gender by which they were able to learn their gender related thing such as boys will learn about their gender thing and girls will learned about their gender. This system will helped to keep the privacy of the students as they will know things related to them.

Secondly, in the single-sex schools students have more focus on their studies as the culture is same due to same gender which makes students feel prominent in the class. In addition to this, many countries in the world especially asians didnot allow their daughters to have studies in the mixed education system by which many girls were unable to get studies whereas having single-sex allow girls to have higher studies by which the litracy rate of the country rise.

In conclusion, i reiterate that the merits of single-sex schools far outweigh those of co-educational schools. Because it improves acadamic performance of the students and provide them comfortable education environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the debate surrounding co-educational versus single-sex schools and clearly states a position in agreement with single-sex education. The ideas are relevant, particularly regarding student comfort, academic focus, and cultural or religious factors influencing education in certain regions like Asia. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the notion that students learn 'gender related things' is vague and under-developed. While all parts of the task are addressed, the arguments could be extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. Overall, the response fulfills the basic requirements for task response, earning a band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a logical overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments. However, cohesion at the sentence level is often mechanical and faulty, relying on basic connectors like 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'Secondly'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'due to having same gender by which they were able to learn', which creates ambiguity and disrupts the flow. Additionally, run-on sentences and a lack of smooth transitions between clauses prevent the essay from achieving a higher score. Coherence is generally maintained, but the mechanical nature of cohesive devices places this at a band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their main ideas about education systems. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'grooming', 'litracy rate', and 'reiterate', but these are accompanied by noticeable spelling errors ('adopte', 'wolrd', 'acadamic', 'litracy') and awkward word choices or collocations ('gender related thing'). While the writer manages to express simple and moderately complex concepts, the frequency of lexical and spelling inaccuracies indicates a limited range that occasionally causes strain for the reader, fitting the descriptors for a band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures frequently result in grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and missing articles, such as 'male and female were beneficial' and 'asians didnot allow their daughters to have studies'. Punctuation and capitalization errors are also present, including lowercase letters at the beginnings of sentences and after periods. While communication is not entirely impeded and the reader can follow the general drift of the arguments, the high frequency of structural and mechanical errors points firmly to a band 5.0.
