Student answer (Band 5.5)

Co-education is familiar nowadays and mostly of the institutes have currently adopted this way of teaching. The argument that education of both genders are together is a subject that is both supported and refuted by many. This essay will analyze this argument before declaring a position.

On the one hand, those who supports that education is in mixed schools have firmly believe that if our childrens go to the co-education schools it have a great impact on them because there they get different type of environment in which they can live as well as study. Moreover, when the students studies in the mixed institutes, both of the genders gain a significant change in their behaviour, boosts their confidence and easily to talk anywhere they stand laterly. For example, when i was gone to the early education stages there was a single sex method of teaching. So, i have a lack of confidence at that stage of life.

While on the other hand, peoples who believed that girls and boys goes to separately education school system may be they have a different prespective of it. But when both genders goes to separate system of schools I think they have to faced a lot of problems regarding to meeting someone, also in group working at different stages of life. They cannot be able to clear their point in front of others and also the level of confidence will be too much low at that time. For instance, A student who studied in the separately system from his childhood, it can deal with many difficulties.

I firmly believe that every parents must have to get their childrens admission in the co-education system where they will be eloquent and outspoken. In addition, they are able to break the ice.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both co-educational and single-sex schooling systems, presenting a clear personal position in the introduction and conclusion. The writer attempts to support ideas with examples, such as personal experience. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive, relying on general statements like boosting confidence and breaking the ice rather than deep elaboration. While all parts of the task are touched upon, the arguments lack sufficient extension and depth, which is characteristic of a Band 6 performance. Nevertheless, the position remains clear throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay is divided into clear paragraphs with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as 'On the one hand', 'While on the other hand', and 'In addition'. However, paragraphing and referencing are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, referencing pronouns like 'it' and 'they' is occasionally unclear, as seen in sentences like 'it can deal with many difficulties' where the antecedent is ambiguous. Overall progression is somewhat discernible, but logical connections between sentences can be strained due to grammatical issues, placing this performance firmly at Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common collocations such as 'break the ice', 'co-education system', and 'significant change in their behaviour'. However, there are frequent word choice and word formation errors, such as 'mostly of the institutes' instead of 'most institutes', 'separately education school system' instead of 'separate education system', and 'prespective' instead of 'perspective'. These errors detract from the lexical quality and occasionally impede the flow, although meaning remains generally clear. The range is limited but minimally adequate, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and clause structure. Examples include 'when both genders goes' instead of 'go', 'if our childrens go' instead of 'children', 'when i was gone to' instead of 'when I went to', and 'every parents must have to get' instead of 'every parent must get'. Punctuation is also problematic in places. These persistent errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from reaching a higher band, aligning well with Band 5.
