Student answer (Band 5.5)
In many parts of the world girls and boys are getting education together in co-educational and mixed schools. Some people think that girls and boys benefit from being educated seperately in single-sex schools. As it has always been a diplomatic debate, but i disagree with this statement that they get better education in single-sex schools.
The maximum institutions in the world are Co-educational and millions of students from all around the world come to these institutions for studies. As these schools are offering multiple courses and both girls and boys benefit from it.Co-education boosts confidence of the students as they are sitting and facing opposite gender on daily basis it improves their confidence and their value of thinking towards gender equality. However, education is important for both boys and girls. for example:I have studied in single-sex school from kindergarten to 12 class but when i got admission in bachelors as it was Co-educational institute i observed that, I am lacking in confidence and after four years of studying together i observed much confidence in myself.
However, I dont think there is any disadvantage of co-education as i have observed and examined it myself. Meanwhile, it can also create a problem if co-schools doesn't exists. For example: In Bangladesh there are single-sex schools of boys but there are no schools for girls so the illitracy rate for girls is more and, I think it is injustice for girls, as they have right to study as well.
In conclusion, I must say that boys and girls both should benefit from education as it is their right. In co-education they both learn at the same place and learn same material.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, as seen in the statement "i disagree with this statement that they get better education in single-sex schools." Relevant ideas are introduced, such as the social benefits of co-education and the development of confidence, and 23 words copied from the prompt were correctly excluded from the count. However, some ideas are under-developed or less fully supported. For example, the point about Bangladesh is introduced abruptly and lacks sufficient depth or explanation to fully support the argument. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to extend and support all main ideas with more thorough elaboration and specific, well-integrated examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to organise ideas into paragraphs, and the writer provides an introduction and a conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. There is a frequent overuse of transition words like "However" at the beginning of consecutive sentences, which disrupts the natural flow of ideas. Furthermore, referencing is not always clear, and the logical progression between sentences can be disjointed, as seen in the sudden shift from personal experience to the situation in Bangladesh. To improve, the writer should employ a wider variety of cohesive devices more accurately and ensure smoother transitions between paragraphs and supporting points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as "diplomatic debate," "co-educational," and "gender equality." There are, however, several word choice, word form, and spelling errors that reflect an inconsistent control of lexical features. Examples include "seperately" (spelling), "maximum institutions" (inappropriate collocation for 'most institutions'), "Co-schools" (non-standard lexical item), and "illitracy" (spelling). While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they restrict the score. To progress further, the writer should focus on expanding their range of less common vocabulary, improving spelling accuracy, and ensuring natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and multi-clause sentences. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including capitalization issues (such as lowercase "i"), missing articles (e.g., "in bachelors as it was Co-educational institute"), preposition errors (e.g., "from kindergarten to 12 class"), and run-on sentences with comma splices (e.g., "As these schools are offering multiple courses and both girls and boys benefit from it.Co-education boosts confidence..."). These errors are noticeable but rarely impede overall communication. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to produce a greater frequency of error-free sentences and exercise tighter control over complex grammatical structures and punctuation.
