Student answer (Band 5.0)
In recent years, there has been a gowing debate about whether boys and girls should be study togather in co educational institude. Others believe it is benefical if they get their education from single gender schools. I partly agree with this view, a combined approach should be taken for co education.
On the one hand, co education has several positive aspects, one major advantage is students can learn coorporation with other girls and boys. They can develop good communication and working skills. These skills gives some working experience which is very helpful in practical life. Fir example, a female medical specialist complete his study with male and start his profession in hospital, where she easily communicate with male client and staff with his educational experience.
One the otherhand, single sex education has mamy benefits, one cruical benefit is it provide help to student to fully on her studies. student do not disattract from her goal due to leas pressure. A separate girls and boys students easily achieve their require goals with her full attention. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially, and it must be noted that the length requirement is not met, as the text contains 236 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. The student expresses a partial agreement with the view, but the ideas presented are limited and under-developed. For instance, the arguments regarding communication skills and focus in single-sex schools are introduced with very basic examples, such as the medical specialist or the gold medal winner, but these examples lack depth and are not fully extended. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to expand the word count beyond the minimum requirement and provide more thoroughly explained arguments with fully developed supporting examples that explore both sides of the issue in greater detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation evident in the structure, with distinct paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, but the text lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'one major advantage' and 'one cruical benefit' to introduce ideas. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in pronoun usage within the examples where gender consistency is mixed. To improve cohesion and progress to the next level, the writer should employ a wider and more accurate variety of transitional phrases and ensure that ideas flow logically from one sentence to the next with clear, precise referencing throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors that cause some difficulty for the reader. There are multiple spelling errors, such as 'gowing', 'togather', 'institude', 'benefical', 'coorporation', 'mamy', 'cruical', 'disattract', 'leas', 'approch', and 'concentrate'. Furthermore, word choices and word forms are often strained or inaccurate, such as 'single gender schools' instead of 'single-sex schools' and 'female medical specialist complete his study'. To achieve a higher band, the student must broaden their lexical range, eliminate basic spelling mistakes, and demonstrate greater precision in word choice, collocation, and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic patterns. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, containing persistent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and pronouns. Examples of these errors include 'boys and girls should be study togather', 'These skills gives', 'a female medical specialist complete his study with male and start his profession', 'student do not disattract', and 'a male student who study'. These frequent grammatical errors often cause difficulty for the reader. To move up to the next band, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures and improve grammatical accuracy across verb agreements and tense consistency.
