Student answer (Band 6.0)

Education is the base of progress of a country. In the contemporary era, the girls and boys were given education in separate schools due to narrow mentality of society, whereas in this day and age, mind sets of people have changed and today both the female and male scholars are teached in co-educational institutions. It has been put forward that the girls and boys benefits from getting separate education in single-sex schools. I disagree with this stance. I shall discuss both views in the upcoming paragraphs.

The predominant reason that supports why male and female students should be taught in mixed schools is that it provides the boys knowledge regarding the problems tackled by by girls. As a result, they become sensitive towards the sufferings of women. In addition to it, co-education assists in giving information about mensuration period. For instance, when a mixed school teaches the students about periods that women go through every month, the boys get to learn about it at an early age. This would make the boys strong enough to help the girls during that time and respect them.

As, "Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder", likewise, some commentators opine that the girls and boys benefit from separate education in one sex schools. They justify that this would help to provide better explanation to students. To illustrate it, when there is separate schooling, than the students can well understand the sensitive concepts as they fell shy in front of one another while studying such topics such as science related chapters. Furthermore, when females are taught in girls schools, they clearly talk to their tutors regarding their sexual problems and they do not get ashamed of themselves.

To conclude the aforementioned arguments in a nutshell, it can be reiterated that although separate schooling benefits the boys and girls, yet in my opinion, they ought to get co-education as nowadays the world is highly developed which tranformed the mentality of citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you disagree that single-sex education is more beneficial, and you give relevant reasons for co-education, including helping boys understand girls’ experiences. You also represent the opposing view by discussing students’ comfort with sensitive topics and girls’ willingness to speak to teachers. This addresses the main parts of the question. However, the ideas are not developed equally: the point about learning about menstruation is explained with an example, while the benefits of separate schooling are mostly asserted rather than evaluated. The conclusion repeats your preference but does not weigh the arguments or explain why co-education’s benefits are stronger. Develop each main point with clearer reasoning and a more specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two positions, and a conclusion. The reader can follow the progression from your support for mixed schools to the counterargument. Linking expressions such as “In addition to it,” “To illustrate it,” and “To conclude” help signal relationships between ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the opening of the third paragraph (“As, ‘Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder’”) does not connect smoothly to the argument. The conclusion also introduces no synthesis of the preceding points. Improve cohesion by using transitions that express the precise relationship between ideas and by linking each paragraph’s final point back to your overall position.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “co-educational institutions,” “sensitive,” “sufferings,” and “sexual problems.” These choices allow you to discuss both educational settings and the social effects of studying together. You also attempt more formal expressions such as “It has been put forward” and “predominant reason,” although some phrasing is unnatural or imprecise. For example, “knowledge regarding the problems tackled by girls” is unclear, and “mensuration period” is not the appropriate term for the intended meaning. There are also word-form and spelling errors, including “teached,” “tranformed,” and “mind sets.” Aim for accurate collocations and precise topic vocabulary rather than relying on formulaic phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “whereas,” “when,” and “although,” and most of your meaning remains understandable. However, some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For example, “the girls and boys benefits” should use a plural verb, while “were given education” and “are teached” show problems with passive forms. The sentence beginning “As, ‘Beauty lies…’” is also punctuated and structured awkwardly, and “when there is separate schooling, than” misuses the conditional construction. Work on checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and practise building complex sentences with clear clause boundaries and accurate punctuation.
