Student answer (Band 6.0)
Few people think that single gender based school is more beneficial rather than the mixed schools. As for me, co-educational institutes are the better option.
Single-sex schools are easier to manage and can offer better comfortness for girls or boys. Usually the female schools provide sanitary napkin machines, arranges cooking sessions, focuses on female friendly sports etc which can feel more comforting for the girls. On the other hand, boys schools usually focuses on heavy physical training, sports like football and crickets, arranges outdoor activities which are preferred by the male adolescents. However, it is often seen that the students from such schools lack communication skills as they are never exposed to a different gender on regular basis. Also, as the curricullumn was designed according to their comfortness and social norms, the taboo never breaks easily and children hesitates to play the opposite gender's role which is normalized by the society. Therefore, I oppose the idea of a single sex-based school.
On the flip side, mixed school helps to break the taboos. Usually children from mixed school are learnt all kind of life skills like cooking, physical training etc regardless of the gender. Another benefit is that there is seen a harmony in between the two genders and they usually knows the boundary that needs to be followed from the early age. Also, it becomes easier to spread social awareness by arranging sessions in those schools.
In conclusion, educating the children seperately based on their gender has some merit but in the long run, benefits from gender neutral schools far overweighs it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening: you favour co-educational schools, and the conclusion restates that their long-term benefits outweigh the merits of single-sex education. You address both sides with relevant points, including comfort and tailored activities in single-sex schools, and communication, social boundaries and awareness in mixed schools. This covers the task well. However, some claims are broad or not fully explained: for example, the link between single-sex curricula and children hesitating to take on roles associated with the other gender needs clearer reasoning or an example. The benefits of mixed schooling are also listed more than developed. Extending these points with specific evidence would make the argument more consistently convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, separate body paragraphs consider each type of school, and the conclusion summarises your position. Transitions such as “On the other hand,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. The progression is generally logical, but some connections are mechanical, and the second body paragraph moves quickly through several benefits without showing how they relate. The reference in “the taboo never breaks easily” is also not fully clear, since the specific taboo is not identified. To strengthen cohesion, group related points, explain the links between them, and use pronouns or repeated key terms only when their reference is unmistakable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “co-educational,” “single-sex,” “social awareness,” and “communication skills,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “better comfortness,” “female friendly sports,” “crickets,” and “far overweighs” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “curricullumn” and “seperately.” These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main argument, but they are noticeable. Aim to learn common academic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; more precise phrasing will make your ideas sound clearer and more assured.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple and complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses with “However” and a subordinate clause beginning “as they are never exposed.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make the phrasing less clear. For example, “the female schools provide …, arranges …, focuses” has inconsistent subject–verb agreement, while “children hesitates” and “they usually knows” also use incorrect agreement. Article and preposition patterns need attention in phrases such as “on regular basis” and “harmony in between.” Practise checking the subject of each verb and the articles required in noun phrases. Greater accuracy across these structures would complement the range you already attempt.
