Student answer (Band 6.5)
In many nations, children are educated together in co-educational instituions. In this matter, a number of people think that single-sex schools are more beneficial for children. However, I largely disagree with this claim because mixed schools promotes equality and helps students to be prepared for the real word.
Proponents argue that gender based schools are easier to maintain as it can avoid distractions for the students and can help to focus on gender based interests. Besides that, it has been noticed that female students tend to participate in sports and other physical activities more comfortably in the female schools compared to the mixed schools. The probable reason is, most of the people in society still believe that boys can perform better in physical sports and activities which undermines the girls' confidence. Another contend on this arguement is that, teachers can prepare lessons effectively focusing the gender's interest and comfort when there are only one group available in the classroom.
However, I firmly believe that, such environment can exacerbate the child's social skills. In society, both men and women live and work together and children should be adopted to such environment from their early age. Also, students who was schooled in a mixed-gender institute, tends to be more comfortable to adopt in universities or offices where both male and female work together. Besides, a co-educational place teaches how to respect the opposite gender and how to keep harmony with different groups which eventually helps in regular social life.
In conclusion, separate girls or boys schools have some merit but the benefits from mixed schools far outweigh them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you largely disagree because mixed schools promote equality and prepare students for adult life. You also acknowledge the opposing view and give relevant reasons, including reduced distraction and girls’ confidence in sports, before explaining the social benefits of co-education. This addresses the task well. However, some points are asserted rather than fully developed: for example, the claim that teachers can tailor lessons to gender interests is not illustrated or explained, and the benefits of mixed schools could be supported with a specific example. The response therefore shows a clear, relevant argument, but not all ideas are extended and supported consistently. Develop the key points with examples or a clearer explanation of how each benefit occurs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, the second paragraph presents the opposing case, the third explains your position, and the conclusion restates it. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Besides,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. The progression is generally logical, but cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several sentences begin with additive transitions, and some references are not fully clear. For instance, “such environment” could refer more precisely to single-sex schooling, while “Another contend” introduces a point without a smooth connection to the preceding discussion. To strengthen the flow, vary how you connect ideas and use clearer references, while ensuring each paragraph develops one central point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “co-educational,” “undermines the girls’ confidence,” “exacerbate,” and “harmony.” These choices help express the main argument, and meaning remains clear despite some inaccuracies. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “real word” appears to mean “real world,” “gender based” is repeated, and “another contend” is not the appropriate noun form. Phrases such as “adopted to such environment” and “adopt in universities” also do not express the intended idea naturally. Aim for more accurate collocations and check spelling and word forms; this will make your vocabulary more flexible and precise without changing the substance of your ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a reason clause (“because mixed schools promotes equality”) and a relative clause (“which undermines the girls’ confidence”). Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “mixed schools promotes” and “students who was schooled”; the latter also has an awkward tense and number pattern. Articles and sentence punctuation need attention in “when there are only one group available” and “I firmly believe that, such environment…”. There are also errors in comparative and infinitive patterns, as in “more comfortable to adopt.” Review agreement, articles, and clause punctuation, then proofread complex sentences. Greater accuracy across these structures would make the argument easier to read.
