Student answer (Band 6.0)
In several parts of the world students are educated together in co-educational or mixed schools. It is believed that it is better for female and male students to get educated in schools built for separate genders. In my opinion, girls and boys do not benefit from studying separately in single-sex schools. In fact, i believe the contrary, co-education is necessary for building confidence of the pupils. Moreover, they learn to coexist in the society.
Co-education should be promoted because it helps build confidence in the learners. It helps in improving the communication skills and They can talk to each other without being intimidated by the opposite gender and put their viewpoints forward confidentally. They can learn the importance of healthy competition without bringing societal gender norms in the conversations. Mixed schools are also important because then individuals won't see the other gender as alien beings. So, instead of keeping them away from each other healthy debates and communication should be encouraged.
Moreover, children that are studying in single-sex schools often lack confidence and the skill of respectfully communicating with the other gender. Co-ed is essential for the students because they are learning early- on that different gender exists and they have to co-exist in the society. This will not only improve their confidence but it is also essential for their future, where they will have collegues from the opposite gender but they won't think themselves as superior beings and thus conduct themselves professionally.
In conclusion, studying in co-education promotes a healthy mindset in the young learners and is quite essential in building their confidence. Furthermore, girls and boys can learn to co-exist in the society peacefully.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you disagree that single-sex education is more beneficial, and you give relevant reasons, including confidence, communication, healthy competition and preparation for professional life. The response addresses the question and maintains this viewpoint through the conclusion. However, some ideas are asserted more than explained. For example, you say pupils in single-sex schools “often lack confidence,” but do not provide an example or explain why this is likely. The point about future colleagues is relevant, yet could be developed with a specific situation showing how mixed schooling prepares students to work together. Extending these points and acknowledging a possible benefit of single-sex schools would make the argument more fully developed and balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs give reasons, and the conclusion restates the position. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “So,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the progression, and the paragraphs generally have distinct purposes. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and shows some stronger control through logical sequencing. However, connections can feel mechanical because several paragraphs begin with similar additive transitions, and ideas within the first body paragraph are sometimes crowded together. For instance, confidence, communication, competition and gender norms appear in quick succession. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and vary transitions so the progression feels more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “co-education,” “healthy competition,” “societal gender norms,” and “conduct themselves professionally.” These choices communicate your main ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. There are also some inaccurate or unnatural expressions that limit precision: “schools built for separate genders” is awkward, “alien beings” is overly dramatic in this context, and “building confidence of the pupils” would be more naturally phrased with a possessive construction. Spelling errors such as “confidentally” and “collegues” also need attention. Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your argument sound more fluent and appropriately academic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because it helps build confidence” and a relative clause in “where they will have colleagues from the opposite gender.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors are present. For example, “In fact, i believe the contrary, co-education is necessary” joins two independent clauses incorrectly and needs a full stop, semicolon or conjunction; “They” is also incorrectly capitalised after “and” within the sentence. The phrase “children that are studying” could be expressed more naturally with “who study.” Pay particular attention to sentence boundaries, capitalisation, and constructing longer sentences accurately. Greater control of these forms would strengthen the range you already attempt.
