Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many parts of the world girls and boys are being educated together, Which has driven mix opinions around the world. Some people agree with the idea of co-education, while others think single-sex schools are better. In my opinion co-education has more benefits compared to single-sex schools.

In many religious countries, including Pakistan people give preference to single-sex schools. According to them, which is safe for girls in-terms of privacy and boys remained focused due to no distraction because of girls.

Population in remote areas, do not like interaction between girls and boys, they believe such things are inappropriate in morale and religious perspective. Girls have there own problems, from menstreal periods to uniforms, usually which are shirt and a pent. In local areas which is considered as vulgar dressing. They think, when boys are girls become close to each other due to any means, they will get involved in relationships, subsquently will lose their focus from studies.

Co-education has its own benefits, like it boost your confidence. According to psychology, opposite gender communication stimulate your confidance.

Moreover, now a days women are getting equal oppotrunitties in jobs, and are helding senior positions in many corporations. which requires frequent respresentation from colleages regardless of gender. Respect is another key element to this debate, when you study along with girls, you learn about them, which helps you to apply those learnings in your home and society. How to behave around opposite genders and so on.

In experiences, while being part of co-environment from schools to work, I had always seen people behave and perform better, who were once part of co-education.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the introduction and conclusion: you favour co-education, while acknowledging why some people prefer single-sex schools. You also address both sides with relevant points, including privacy, religious views, confidence, workplace equality and respect. However, several ideas are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that mixed schooling improves confidence through communication with the opposite gender needs a clearer explanation or a specific example. The discussion of uniforms and relationships is also difficult to follow and could be linked more directly to the benefits of separate education. Develop fewer points in greater depth and make the extent of your agreement explicit, then support each main claim with reasoning or an example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting reasons for single-sex schools, a paragraph supporting co-education, and a concluding personal observation. This helps the reader identify your overall position. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some connections between ideas are unclear. For instance, the discussion moves from girls’ periods and uniforms to concerns about relationships without clearly showing how these points support the paragraph’s main claim. Linking phrases such as “Moreover” and “Respect is another key element” are used, but relationships between sentences are sometimes abrupt or repetitive. Organise each body paragraph around one central idea, use clearer topic sentences, and explain how each example connects to your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “co-education,” “single-sex schools,” “privacy,” “opportunities” and “senior positions,” so the reader can understand the main subject and your position. However, the range is limited in places, and noticeable spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the message less clear. Examples include “mix opinions,” “menstreal periods,” “confidance,” “oppotrunitties” and “respresentation.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “helding senior positions” and “frequent respresentation from colleages.” Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for education and employment. More precise phrasing would help you express your ideas without relying on broad or awkward wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while” and “which,” but control is inconsistent. Several sentence boundaries and clause structures are faulty: “According to them, which is safe for girls…” is an incomplete construction, while “Population in remote areas, do not like…” separates the subject from its verb with an unnecessary comma. There are also errors in agreement and verb forms, as in “communication stimulate” and “women … are helding.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including the lowercase “which” after a full stop. These errors can make some relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, then proofread agreement, tense and punctuation.
