Student answer (Band 5.5)
In many parts of the world females and males are educated together in co-educational or mixed schools. Some individuals believe that both genders benefit from being educated separately in single-sex schools. I firmly agree with this point of view as in single-sex schools, students concentrate more on their education and are not able to make unnecessary relationships.
On the one hand, when students study in single-sex schools, they focus only on their education. They spend longer hours at schools and if they study together within the same class or school, they will focus on each other. As a result, that may affect their level of education and understanding. An example of that, if we compare two schools, one for both genders and one for only girls or boys, we will discover that the final results of the separated school is much beter than the mixed school. Thus, I believe that being educated in single-sex schools, students will get higher marks.
On the other hand, in mixed schools, some students are busy with unnecessary relationships and friendships during their resedence at school and they do not concentrate on their education. As a consequence, they have fewer chance to pass their exams. So, this might cost them a lot. For instance, learners meet each other during school times and make relationships. Later, these relationships impact their educational levels negatively. Therefore, I do not recommend to study in co-educational schools.
In conclusion, Although there is a considerable number of schools where both boys and girls are educated together, I believe that in order to get higher marks and build a solid background for future career, they need to educate in single-sex schools.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you firmly support single-sex education, and the conclusion restates this view. You also give two relevant reasons—students may focus more on study and avoid distractions from relationships—and include examples. However, the support is largely asserted rather than demonstrated. For instance, the claim that separated schools achieve “much beter” results is presented without evidence, and the relationship argument is repeated without exploring when or why it affects learning. The response addresses the question, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed, which keeps the discussion from being fully convincing. To strengthen it, explain the mechanisms behind each benefit and acknowledge a possible advantage of mixed schools before explaining why you still favour separation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. The contrast between “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” helps signal the organisation, while “As a result” and “Therefore” make some relationships between ideas clear. However, the progression is repetitive: both body paragraphs return to the same point that mixed schooling distracts students and harms results. Several links feel mechanical, and the example in the first body paragraph is introduced awkwardly with “An example of that.” The conclusion also repeats the main claims rather than drawing them together. Develop a distinct purpose for each paragraph and use clearer references and transitions to show how each example supports its reason.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic, including terms such as “co-educational,” “single-sex schools,” “concentrate,” and “educational levels.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes the writing less precise. “Unnecessary relationships” is repeated and sounds judgemental without explaining what kind of distraction is meant; “during their resedence at school” is an unsuitable phrase; and “solid background for future career” is not idiomatic. There are also spelling errors such as “beter” and “resedence.” Aim for more precise academic collocations and avoid repeating the same wording. For example, you could refer to “social distractions” or “academic performance” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if they study together … they will focus on each other” and a concluding clause beginning “in order to.” Meaning is generally understandable, but errors recur in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “the final results … is” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “they have fewer chance” needs a plural noun. The phrase “I do not recommend to study” also uses an incorrect verb pattern; write “I do not recommend studying” or “I do not recommend that students study.” Capitalisation after “In conclusion” is inconsistent, and the opening sentence of the conclusion needs clearer punctuation. Practise checking agreement and verb patterns, while varying sentence forms accurately.
