Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the world, there are many co-educational or mixed schools which boys and girls studiedv together. Some individuals say that students benefit from being educated saperately in single school. I beleive it is more beneficial for both boys and girls. I disagree that students study seperately in different schools.

The main argument for single-sex education is that it reduces the distraction and allows teacher to use teaching methods suited to each gender. For example some claims that boys and girls learn at different speeds. Girls like the subjects like math biology. While boys like art subjects because they easily pass the art subjects. Co-education teaches us mutual respect, teamwork and social skills from a young age.

Furthermore, there is no clear that all single-sex school always produce better academic results. Success more depend on the quality of teachers, the recources of school, and the motivationof students, rather than on whether boy and girls sit in the same classroom. Therefore, boys and girls should be continue to educated together.

In conclusion, while single-sex schools may have some advantage in terms of concentration, I believe the socialand life skills gained in co-educational schools are far more important. Therefore, boys and

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is identifiable: you disagree with separating students and favour co-education, especially because it can build “mutual respect, teamwork and social skills.” You also acknowledge a possible benefit of single-sex schools, which helps address both sides of the question. However, the response only partially develops the task: the claims about different learning speeds and subject preferences are unclear and unsupported, and the main benefits of mixed education are stated rather than explained with examples. The conclusion is cut off after “Therefore, boys and”, leaving the final point incomplete. The response is also 52 words below the required minimum, limiting the space available to develop your reasoning. Explain each main idea and add a relevant example to make your position more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph discussing arguments, a further paragraph about academic results, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the sentence about girls preferring mathematics and biology and boys preferring art does not clearly support the point about teaching methods, and the shift to mutual respect is abrupt. Some connections are also difficult to follow, particularly “There is no clear that all single-sex school always produce better academic results.” The unfinished final sentence disrupts the ending. Use clearer topic sentences and explain how each example supports your position; ensure the conclusion is complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “co-educational,” “single-sex,” “academic results,” “motivation,” and “social skills.” These terms show that you can discuss the subject, but the overall range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the argument difficult to understand. Examples include “single school” for “single-sex schools,” “the recources of school,” and “the socialand life skills.” The claim that girls like mathematics and biology while boys like art is also expressed imprecisely, making the intended meaning uncertain. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for discussing educational outcomes and social development, and proofread spelling and spacing. More precise vocabulary would help you express comparisons and support your ideas clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few different sentence forms, including a relative clause in “schools which boys and girls studied together” and a contrast clause beginning “while single-sex schools may have some advantage.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “boys and girls should be continue to educated together” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “Success more depend” lacks the required auxiliary and agreement. “There is no clear that…” is also an incomplete grammatical construction. Some sentence boundaries are unclear, as in “Girls like the subjects like math biology. While boys…” Practise accurate basic clauses first, then combine ideas using correctly formed subordinate clauses and check each sentence for a complete verb.
