Student answer (Band 7.0)
In my countries, boys and girls study together in mixed schools, while other believe that seperate schools provide better educational opportunities. I largely disagree with the idea of single-sex education because I believe that mixed schools help students develop both academically and socially.
Firstly, studying together allows boys and girls to understand and respect eache other from an early age. In mixed schools, students learn to comminicate, share ideas and work as team regarless of gender. These skills are essential for their future careers, as most workplaces require men and women to cooperate. For example, students who participate in group projects with classmates of both genders may become more confident when working with defferent people in professional environments.
Secondly, co-educational schools can encourage healthy compitition and improve academic performance. Students can learn from one another, exchange knowledge and motivate each other to achieve better results. Furthermore, mixed schools provide equal opportunities for boys and girls to participate in sports, debates and leadership activities. This can help challenge traditional stereotypes and promote gender equality.
However, some people argue that single-sex schools allow students to concentrate better because they may experience fewer distractions. In addition, certain students might feel more comfortable discussing personal issues or participating in classroom activities in a single-sex environment. Although these advantages may be relevant in some situations,I believe that good teaching methods and proper classroom management can adress many of these concerns whithout seperating student by gender.
In conclusion, although single-sex schools may offer certain benefits,I believe that co-education is more advantageous overall. It not only supports academic development but also prepares students to communicate effectively, respect others and succed in society whare men and women work together.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
Your position is clear from the introduction—“I largely disagree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both sides by explaining the social and academic benefits of mixed schools, then acknowledging that single-sex settings may reduce distractions or make some students more comfortable. The examples of mixed-gender group projects and equal participation in activities support your main points. This is a well-focused response with relevant ideas extended and supported. To strengthen it further, develop the counterargument or one of your main claims with more specific explanation: for instance, clarify how mixed-gender competition improves performance, rather than asserting that it does. Some claims, such as what most workplaces require, are broad and would benefit from qualification or a more concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5
The essay has a clear, effective structure: an introduction stating your view, two paragraphs supporting it, a paragraph considering the opposing view, and a conclusion. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “However,” and “In conclusion” make the relationships between points clear. You also connect ideas within paragraphs, for example moving from cooperation at school to future workplaces. To make the organisation more polished, rely slightly less on formulaic sequencing and use more varied links between specific claims and their explanations. There are also a few spacing slips after full stops and commas, such as “gender. These” and “situations,I,” which interrupt the otherwise clear presentation.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “co-educational,” “academic performance,” “leadership activities,” “traditional stereotypes,” and “gender equality.” These choices communicate your ideas clearly, and phrases such as “healthy competition” suit the discussion. However, spelling errors are noticeable, including “seperate,” “comminicate,” “regardless,” “defferent,” “compitition,” and “succed.” Some expressions are also imprecise or awkward, such as “In my countries” and “work as team.” Greater accuracy with spelling, word forms, and collocations would make the vocabulary more controlled. Aim to check commonly used topic words carefully and choose precise phrasing rather than relying on broad expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concession clause (“Although these advantages may be relevant…”) and a relative clause (“students who participate in group projects…”). Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and the argument remains easy to understand. Some grammatical errors persist, however. In “work as team,” the article is missing; “without separating student by gender” needs a plural noun; and “while other believe” has a subject–verb agreement problem. Punctuation and spacing also need attention, particularly where sentences run directly into the next word. To improve, proofread for articles, plural forms, agreement, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use varied sentence patterns.
