Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many regions of the world girls and boys are educated together in mixed schools. Some argue that girls and boys benefit from being enlightened seperately in single-sex schools. I completely agree with this view because in mixed schools most students cannot give their full attention in studies due to distraction and in single-sex schools students can study dedicatedly.
Male and female have attraction for each other since the stone age. So, in schools where male and female study together, it is quite natural to feel attracted to each other. However, this feeling causes students to feel distracted in their classes. As a result, they cannot concentrate in the class or understand what the teacher is saying. Moreover, in mixed school many students get involved in relationship and cannot balance their studies.
Single-sex schools enable the students to focus on their goal completely. As there are no opposite gender on the school, students can concentrate on their classes without distraction. Moreover, most of the single-sex school have strict discipline which are really important for a student to prosper in life. For instance, Notre Dame College is one of the reputed college in
Bangladesh which has very rigorous routine and where only boys study. It the only institution in Bangladesh where students score best in both entrance and admission exams.
In conclusion, the main goal of a school is to provide quality education to students and to prepare them as a good mankind. However, in opposite-sex schools this goals are often impeded. So, by ensuring a quality education i think single-sex schools benefit both girls and boys.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you completely agree that single-sex education is beneficial, and the conclusion returns to this view. You address both the claimed disadvantages of mixed schools and the advantages of single-sex schools, using distraction, relationships, discipline, and the Bangladesh college example as relevant support. However, some points are asserted more than explained. For example, the claim that attraction prevents students from understanding lessons needs a clearer explanation or evidence, and the college example does not establish that single-sex education itself causes strong exam results. The idea that schools prepare students to be “a good mankind” is also unclear. Develop these points with more precise reasoning and acknowledge or address a possible benefit of co-education to make the argument more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and a conclusion summarises your position. The progression from distraction in mixed schools to focus and discipline in single-sex schools is easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “As a result,” “Moreover,” and “For instance” help connect supporting points, and paragraphing is appropriate. To make the organisation more effective, ensure each example clearly supports the claim immediately before it; the Notre Dame example, for instance, moves from strict routines to exam performance without explaining the connection. Some transitions are also formulaic, and the conclusion repeats earlier claims rather than drawing the reasoning together. More precise referencing and varied links would strengthen the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your argument, including “single-sex schools,” “concentrate,” “distraction,” “rigorous routine,” and “quality education.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “benefit from” and “impeded.” However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “being enlightened separately” does not mean being educated separately, “study dedicatedly” is awkward, and “a good mankind” is not an appropriate expression. “Opposite gender” is also less natural than “opposite sex” or “students of the other sex” in this context. Spelling errors such as “seperately” and inconsistent capitalisation reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable range of education-related collocations and check spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including cause-and-effect structures such as “As a result, they cannot concentrate…” and a conditional-style explanation beginning “As there are…”. Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Male and female have attraction” has problems with number and sentence construction; “there are no opposite gender” has a plural agreement error; and “most of the single-sex school have” needs plural agreement. Articles and agreement are also inaccurate in “one of the reputed college” and “this goals are often impeded.” The sentence “It the only institution…” is missing a verb. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals, and complete sentence structure, while continuing to practise complex sentences.
