Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people thinks that single-sex schools are more beneficial for the students than mixed schools.I think although most of the schools in the world are mixed schools it is important to educated seperately.

One of the main reason why single-sex schools are more beneficial is that they provide more focussed learning environment. This is because students face fewer distractions in the classrooms. As a result students can more concentrate their acedemic activities.Ultimately they can get higher acedemic performance. Furthermore, learning in single sex environment can increase students self confidence. As a result soft skills like leadership may develop in students. Therefore, single sex schools provide several benfits for the students.

However, mixed schools provide some benefits for the students as well. One major advantage is that often they provide social skills for the students. It allow students to face the real world. As a result students understand the value of gender equality within their early age. Also mixed schools promote teamwork and communication skills. As a result students learn respect another person ideas and share opinions among different genders. For example, during group assignments students learn how to collabarate with others to achieve a common goal.

In conclusion, although education in mixed schools bring numerous advantages to the students i believe that seperate education in single schools provide more long term advantages for long term success for academic performance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question and state a preference for single-sex education, giving relevant reasons such as fewer classroom distractions and the development of confidence. You also recognise benefits of mixed schools, including social skills, gender equality and teamwork. However, the position is not fully clear in the opening: “it is important to educated seperately” does not clearly explain the extent of your agreement, and the conclusion repeats the preference without weighing the arguments. Several points, especially the claims about confidence and long-term success, need explanation or a specific example. The response is also 22 words below the required minimum, so there is less space to develop your reasoning. Extend the key ideas and make your degree of agreement explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph on single-sex schools, one on mixed schools, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You use linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “However,” and “For example” to connect points, and the example about group assignments supports the discussion of teamwork. At times, though, cohesion feels mechanical because “As a result” is repeated several times, and some links do not show a precise relationship between the ideas. The conclusion also introduces “long term” twice without clearly summarising how the two sides compare. Use a wider range of linking methods, connect each explanation directly to its claim, and make references such as “they” unambiguous.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “distractions,” “self confidence,” “gender equality,” “teamwork,” and “communication skills.” Some choices show an attempt to express more specific concepts, such as “focused learning environment” and “academic performance.” However, spelling errors are noticeable, including “seperately,” “acedemic,” “benfits,” and “collabarate,” and several phrases are awkward or imprecise, such as “provide social skills for the students” and “respect another person ideas.” Repetition of “students,” “benefits,” and “As a result” also limits flexibility. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, so your vocabulary sounds more natural and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in the introduction and cause-and-effect sentences such as “This is because students face fewer distractions.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Some people thinks” has subject–verb disagreement, “It allow students” needs agreement, and “students learn respect another person ideas” is missing grammatical elements. The opening sentence also joins two independent ideas without adequate punctuation, while “although education in mixed schools bring” has an agreement problem. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the overall meaning is generally recoverable. Practise agreement, articles and possessives, and proofread sentence boundaries; aim to make complex sentences accurate as well as varied.
