Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many countries, the topic of co-educational system is beneficial for both girls and boys has become a major subject of discussion. While many people believe that different genders study under one roof can brings clear benefits, others worry about its negative consequences on society. However, I firmly believe that the advantages of mixed education system is far outweigh its disadvantages. This essay will discuss both views before reaching a reasoned conclusion.

On the one hand, I would argue that there are several reasons to follow co-education. The primary reason is that it plays a vital role to promote equality and develop a confidence in individuals. This means that, the interaction of opposite genders improve their communication skills and increase confidence level in both of them. In addition, most of the girls reluctant to ask a question from men and cannot not easily express themselves in front of boys. Therefore, mixed schools system reduce their hesitation and make them a confident person while around other people or other gender.

On the other hand, we must consider the serious arguments raised by the opposite side. The major issue issue is that old tradition and cultural values. In other words, in Pakistan, some parents do not allow their daughters to study in university with boys, because they consider it against to their ethical norms and religious value. Consequently, female could not persue their career.

In conclusion, analyzing both viewpoints shows that both side have strong arguments. Although, religeous values are significant for any culture, co-educational system is significantly important to provide benifits bith genders equally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the introduction: you believe mixed education has greater advantages, and you include a paragraph on each side before concluding. The points about confidence and communication are relevant, as is the example of parents in Pakistan who object to girls studying with boys. However, the response only partly develops the question of whether students benefit from separate schooling. The disadvantages of co-education are mentioned generally, while the cultural example mainly explains why some families oppose it; it does not show what educational benefits single-sex schools might offer. Develop this contrast with a specific reason and supporting example, and make the conclusion state more directly why your position outweighs the opposing view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from equality to girls’ reluctance to ask questions without fully explaining how the ideas connect. The conclusion also says both sides have strong arguments but does not clearly resolve that contrast in favour of your stated position. Some linking phrases feel formulaic, and “This means that” repeats the preceding point rather than extending it. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and ensure each paragraph develops one central claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “co-educational,” “opposite genders,” “communication skills,” “cultural values,” and “ethical norms.” These choices show an attempt to discuss education and social attitudes, but range and precision are uneven. Several phrases are awkward or inaccurate, such as “different genders study under one roof,” “a confident person while around other people,” and “provide benefits bith genders equally.” Spelling errors such as “persue,” “religeous,” and “benifits” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe students as learning “alongside one another” and explain that interaction can “build confidence.” More precise vocabulary would help distinguish the benefits of mixed schooling from objections based on tradition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “Although religious values are significant…” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some ideas less clear. Examples include “can brings,” “the advantages … is,” and “the interaction … improve,” where the verb forms do not agree with their subjects. The sentence “most of the girls reluctant to ask” is missing a verb, while “cannot not easily express” contains an unnecessary negative. There are also punctuation and clause-linking problems, particularly the opening fragment-like construction “The major issue issue is that old tradition and cultural values.” Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly matched verb, while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
