Student answer (Band 6.0)

In numerous regions of our world people think that both genders - boys and girls should not study together or they are against of co-educational or mixed schools and they want specialized single sex education. On the other hand, many believe that it is beneficial for children to study in mixed schools for their growth and I agree with this idea of mixed education as it helps boys and girls to grow their mind and also helps them to mature.

Many believe that there should be different schools for different genders like boys and girls school, as they think that by putting both gender together they will distract from studies. As children gradually grew older they will develop some feelings for their classmates or female friends. Therefore parents want to tackle this problem by single-sex education. However, it is not efficient way to handle this situation because it will exacerbate the issue, as it will make harder to feel comfortable around opposite genders in real life as they never interacted.

Moreover, by co-education it helps students to understand opposite genders and make them mature by knowing their problems and facts. For instance, in still some of boy's schools, mensuration cycle topic is skipped as they thought, what is need to teach this in a boy's school. This leads to have a lack of knowledge of important natural process. In addition to that, by mixed-sex studies help them to interact with opposite genders and help them to grow their maturity by knowing how to behave with opposite gender.

I believe that, parents' concern are right of distraction but exposing to opposite gender from a young age helps them to know and grow how to behave with them, additionally how to communicate and feel comfortable around opposite gender.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you support mixed education, and you address the concern that students may be distracted by explaining why separation could make later interactions more difficult. The discussion of learning about the opposite sex, including the example about boys missing information on menstruation, is relevant and helps support your view. This gives the response a solid answer to the question. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, you say mixed schooling helps students “grow their mind” and mature, but do not show in detail how this happens or provide a specific supporting example. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation and evidence, and make the extent of your agreement explicit in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and a final paragraph restates your position. Connectors such as “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “For instance” help signal relationships between ideas. The overall progression is understandable, but cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear. The second body paragraph repeats the idea that mixed schooling helps students mature and interact, while “In addition to that” introduces a point very similar to the preceding one. Some references, such as “this situation” and “this,” could identify their subject more precisely. To strengthen progression, give each paragraph a distinct central point, avoid repeating the same benefit, and use linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “co-educational,” “single-sex education,” “distract,” “interacted,” and “opposite genders.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond very basic terms. However, several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the expression less natural: “grow their mind,” “different genders,” “mensuration cycle,” and “what is need to teach this” are examples. Some key phrases, especially “opposite gender,” are also repeated frequently. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully; for example, use “broaden their understanding,” “students of different genders,” and “menstrual cycle.” More precise vocabulary would make your arguments clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “as,” “because,” and “as they never interacted,” and your meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in sentence structure, agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation remain noticeable. For example, “Many believe that there should be different schools … as they think that by putting both gender together they will distract” has unclear clause structure and agreement; “As children gradually grew older they will develop” shifts tense; and “parents’ concern are right” has a subject–verb agreement problem. Commas are also missing after some introductory clauses. Practise building accurate complex sentences, checking that subjects and verbs agree, and keeping verb tense consistent. Proofreading these patterns would improve control without sacrificing sentence variety.
