Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is common for male and female to study together in academic institution. Some people argue that providing seperate schools for different gender is beneficial. In my opinion, I completely disagree with this viewpoint because it create gender inequality and

On the ojne hand, support of single sex educaation believe that it create more focused learning. Somehow it is true because students may feel comfortable to study with same sex group. Additionally, while growing up they start to get attraction with opposite gender which will impact their studies. To illustrate, during teenage most of the girl and boy fall in love if they spend time together and that result pool academic performance.

On the other hand, it is unrealistic way of teaching as they have to encounter with opposite gender in real world. It can create inequality between male and female, hence it shouuld be normalise to give freedom for children and make friends not by the gender. It take many years to equalise man and women, so this practice might push the society backward. For instance, in the past female used to be discriminated in the society and they the oppor4tunity to study and work was not given to women, slowly the world ordenise and equality is served. Therefore, startind single sex school will create discomfort for male and female to be viewed equally.

In conclusion, mixed schools are more significant for the society to grow and develope.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you disagree with single-sex education, and you address both its possible benefit—students may feel more comfortable or less distracted—and your concerns about equality and preparation for adult life. The historical example also supports your argument, although its connection to present-day schooling needs clearer explanation. Some claims, such as teenagers falling in love and this lowering academic performance, are broad and not sufficiently supported. The response therefore addresses the question only partially, with ideas that remain limited or under-developed. It is also 11 words below the required minimum. Develop each main reason with a specific explanation or example, and complete the opening sentence, which currently ends after “because it create gender inequality and”.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This makes the overall argument easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven: the first body paragraph moves from comfort to attraction and then academic performance without fully explaining the links. Some connections are also unclear, particularly the historical example and the claim that society “ordenise and equality is served.” The opening sentence is unfinished, which disrupts the transition into the argument. Use clearer links between each claim and its supporting explanation, and ensure every paragraph develops one central point before moving on.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “single sex,” “gender inequality,” “opposite gender,” and “discriminated,” so the reader can understand the main subject and position. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts difficult to interpret, such as “pool academic performance,” “the world ordenise,” and “equality is served.” Repetition of “gender,” “male,” and “female” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise phrases and check spelling carefully; for example, describe a possible effect on “academic performance” rather than using “pool.” More accurate collocations would make your ideas clearer without requiring unusually advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “because students may feel comfortable” and a conditional-style explanation beginning “while growing up.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “it create” and “It take,” missing or incorrect articles and plurals in “different gender,” and the unfinished opening sentence ending with “and.” The sentence beginning “For instance” also contains a confusing structure around “they the opportunity.” Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, correct agreement, and a complete thought. Shorter, accurate sentences would help you express the argument more reliably.
