In many parts of the world girls and boys are educated together in co-educational or mixed schools. Some people think that girls and boys benefit from being educated separately in single-sex schools. To what extent do you agree with this view?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience. Write at least 250 words.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

IN MANY COUNTRIES EDUCATIONAL AUTHORITIES BELIEVE THAT SINGLE SEX SCHOOLS ARE BENEFICAL FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO ARE SUFFER FROM SOCIAL ANXIETY AND OTHER THINKS THAT MIXED SCHOOLS HAVE MORE POSITIVE IMPACT ON STUDENTS AS COMPARE TO SINGLE SEX ACADEMY. I MAJORELY AGREE THAT MIXED SCHOOLS ARE MORE EFFECTIVE. IN THIS ESSAY MY POINT OF VIEW WILL BE DISCUSS WITH RELEVANT EXAMPLES.

ON ONE HAND, INDIVIDUALS BELIEVE THAT SINGLE SEX SCHOOL IS GREATER FOR THEIR CHILDRENS BECAUSE, MANY CHILDRENS FACE SIGNIFICANT ISSUES IN EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY DUE TO GENDER DISCRIMINATION. FOR EXAMPLE, STUDENTS BULIED BY THEIR OPPOSIT GENDER SPECIALLY FEMALES WHICH GOES THROUGH STRESS, ANXIETY AND UNDER CONFIDANCE. BECAUSE OF THIS REASON PARENTS TRY TO PUT THEIR KID IN GIRLS SCHOOL FOR SAFETY PORPOUSES. FOR THE BOYS THE REASON BEHIND PUTTING THEM IN BOYS SCHOOL IS DUE TO THEIR MISCHIEFNESS AND MISSBEHAVIOUR NATURE.

ON THE OTHER HAND, PARENTS MAKE THEIR KIDS PART OF MIXED SCHOOL BECAUSE THEY THINK IT IS MORE CONVIENENT FOR CHILDREN'S GROWTH SUCH AS, IMPROVEMENT IN COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND BONDING WITH OPPOSITE GENDER. SOCIETY REQUIRES INVOLVEMENT OF BOTH THE GENDER SO, IT SHOULD STARTS FROM THE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT. THE SCHOOLS WITH GENDER EQUALITY PROVIDES WORKING MANAGEMANT SKILLS AND IT ALSO REDUCES SOCIAL AWKWARDNESS. THIS ASSIST MANY PEOPLE TO GET GRATER POSSITION IN THE UNIVERSITIES AND FUTURE CAREERS.

IN CONCLUSION, I REALLY BELIEVE THAT BOTH TYPE SCHOOLS HAVE BENEFITES IN STUDENTS LIFE, LIKE FOR SINGLE-SEX IT IS BETTER FOR INDIVIDUAL SUBJECTS BASED ON THEIR GENDER BUT MIXED-SEX SCHOOL CAN BRING BOTH THR GENDERS TOGETHER AND REMOVE THE SOCIAL AKWARDNESS.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the introduction: you “MAJORELY AGREE” that mixed schools are more effective, and the essay considers benefits of both school types. The discussion of mixed schools is relevant, especially the points about communication, gender equality and reducing social awkwardness. However, the reasons are not developed evenly. The single-sex-school paragraph relies on broad claims about bullying and boys’ behaviour, without explaining how separate education addresses these problems or giving a specific example. The conclusion also introduces the unclear claim that single-sex schools are better for “individual subjects based on their gender.” To strengthen the response, explain each main reason with a clear example and keep the conclusion consistent with your stated preference for mixed schools.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs signposted by “ON ONE HAND” and “ON THE OTHER HAND,” and a conclusion. This makes the overall direction easy to follow. Some links between ideas are mechanical or unclear, however. For example, “Because of this reason” repeats the causal link without clarifying it, and the shift from bullying to boys’ “mischiefness” is abrupt. The final sentence also combines several ideas without showing how they relate. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the paragraph’s main claim. More precise referencing and transitions would make the progression smoother while preserving this effective basic organisation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “social anxiety,” “gender discrimination,” “communication skills,” “gender equality” and “social awkwardness.” These choices help convey the main ideas, but the range is limited and several inaccurate spellings or word choices make the writing less clear, such as “benefical,” “bulied,” “under confidance,” “convenient” (written as “CONVIENENT”) and “possition.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “educational society,” “working management skills” and “greater position in the universities.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe students as developing “teamwork and interpersonal skills” rather than using the unclear phrase “working management skills.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use some longer sentence forms to explain reasons, including “Parents make their kids part of mixed school because they think it is more convenient for children’s growth,” and you attempt contrast and cause-and-effect structures. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “students who are suffer,” “it should starts,” and “the schools … provides.” The opening sentence is also difficult to process because several ideas are joined without clear grammatical boundaries. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clauses such as “because” and “although.” Check subject–verb agreement and verb forms during proofreading.
