Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that co-educational institutes or mixed schools are good in many parts of the world. However, others argue that, educational institutes should be separate for girls and boys as they get benefit from being separated. In my perspective, I firmly believe institutes should be co-educated because learning together can enhance our communication skills, self confidence. Further I will elaborate below.
Firstly, nowadays, as we live in modern and liberal society people can have their own opinion regardless of their caste and community but co-educational or mixed schools can play a pivotal role in an individuals learning as it can improve very essential things. For instance, many individuals in their professional life lack behind with communication skills and self confidence which results them in rejections, meanwhile, students with low grades and good self confidence always get their desired job. Due to this factor and many more students are always encouraged to get co-education as it can improve their abilities in which they lack.
Secondly, giving separate education is no harm, as students always flourish from education. It cannot provide with other key factors which are important in professional life, good academic record does not mean you will get your dream job. For example, my friend got education from single-sex school with flying numbers but due to lack of self belief and confidence; he always suffers from getting his desired industry job.
In conclusion, in my view, education is crucial for children but certain things are required to compete against this competitive world and hence co-education covers all these factors. I completely believe with this fact that co-education in this modern society is essential for young people in order to gain confidence and enhance their communication skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you favour co-education, and you give relevant reasons about communication, confidence and preparation for work. The example of your friend also helps illustrate the possible limitations of single-sex schooling. However, the response addresses the comparison only partly: the benefits of mixed schools receive more attention, while the case for separate education is dismissed mainly by saying it cannot provide other factors. Some claims, such as students with confidence “always” getting their desired job, are too broad and need qualification or support. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how learning alongside the other sex develops these skills, and acknowledge when single-sex education might benefit some students.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “In conclusion” make the sequence easy to follow. The main progression is understandable: you present a case for co-education, consider separate schooling, then restate your view. However, connections between some ideas are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Due to this factor and many more” does not specify the additional reasons, and the second body paragraph shifts quickly from the value of education to employment outcomes. The opening also repeats the contrast between mixed and separate schools. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and organise each paragraph around one developed point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “co-educational,” “single-sex school,” “communication skills” and “self confidence,” and phrases such as “pivotal role” show an attempt to use less common language. However, the range is limited by repeated references to confidence, education and jobs, while several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural. For instance, “lack behind with communication skills,” “rejections” and “flying numbers” do not express the intended ideas clearly; “desired industry job” is also awkward. These choices sometimes make the reader pause, although your overall meaning remains understandable. Aim for precise, natural combinations and vary repeated terms—for example, use “interpersonal skills” or “academic achievement” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning “as” and “which,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors recur in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and punctuation. In “as we live in modern and liberal society people can have,” a comma is needed after the introductory clause, and “society” needs an article. “It cannot provide with other key factors” has an incomplete grammatical pattern, while “students with low grades and good self confidence always get” contains an overgeneralised plural construction that would benefit from more careful phrasing. Review sentence boundaries and check each clause for a clear subject and verb. More accurate control of these patterns would make your reasoning easier to follow.
