Student answer (Band 5.5)

Co Education is the leading education trends in the world these days. It has its own pros and cons based on the cultural values and religious teachings. Co Education is mainly a teaching method in Western socities and some south East Asian countries. It is a deveolping trend in Africa and Middle Eastern countires as well.

In the same way, there are countries which focus on single sex Education System based on their religious teachings and cultural values. In those countries, societies also emphasize on same gender educational institutes and co education is thought to be a destruction for the youth.

Similarly, Western society are more inclined towards co education system as they believe it is crucial for today's generation to be confident. The gender gap in such socities is less when compared to the opposite. Although, there are some institutes in the Western societies as well, which offer same sex education due to religious restrictions of different religions but still, co education is more prevalent in the western culture.

In my opinion , Co Education enhances the personal skills , polishes the confidence and grooms the personality of an individual. It gives them a chance to express themselves more openly and boosts confidence by interacting with opposite gender. In the same way, it also helps them when they enter the practical phase of their lives. It is easier for them to interact and communicate with the opposite gender, while the same reason causes hurdles for individuals who have recieved education for the same gender schooling system.

In the end, both schooling systems have their own pros and cons which incline with their own ideologies

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear preference for co-education in the paragraph beginning “In my opinion,” and explain relevant benefits, including confidence, communication and preparation for adult life. However, the response addresses the question only partially: much of the earlier discussion describes which regions or cultures favour each system rather than evaluating whether single-sex education benefits students. The opposing view is mentioned mainly as a cultural or religious preference, with little explanation of its educational advantages or limitations. The conclusion also says both systems have pros and cons without restating your position. To strengthen the response, compare the educational outcomes of the two approaches, support each main point with a specific example, and maintain a clear, consistent answer to “to what extent.”

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response is divided into paragraphs, and its broad movement—from background, to contrasting preferences, to your opinion—gives it some organisation. Linking expressions such as “In the same way,” “Similarly,” and “In the end” help signal connections. However, the progression is not always clear: the first three paragraphs repeat cultural and regional comparisons, while the central argument appears relatively late. Some links are mechanical or do not show a precise relationship, and “the opposite” in the third paragraph has an unclear reference. The final sentence does not fully connect back to your stated preference. Organise the essay around a clear sequence of arguments for and against, use topic sentences, and make references and transitions more specific.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “religious teachings,” “gender gap,” “interact,” and “practical phase,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more descriptive phrasing, such as “grooms the personality.” However, the range is limited by repeated use of “co education,” “societies,” and “confidence,” and several choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “a destruction for the youth” and “incline with their own ideologies.” Spelling errors such as “socities,” “deveolping,” and “countires” are noticeable. Build a more precise range for discussing educational benefits and drawbacks, check spelling carefully, and learn common collocations such as “prepare students for adult life.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including the contrast introduced by “Although” and the longer sentence explaining how co-education may help students communicate. Most ideas remain understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, punctuation and sentence construction recur. For example, “Western society are” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “Co Education is the leading education trends” has problems with both number and article use. Commas are also placed inconsistently, as in “In my opinion ,” and around clauses. Some sentences join several ideas without clear control. Practise accurate agreement and article use, and divide longer sentences into well-formed clauses; then proofread punctuation and capitalisation.
