Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response provides an overview and selects key features, such as the USA's high rates and the lower rates in Korea and France. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. The description of the USA's data is inaccurate based on the graph provided, and the trends for countries like Canada and Spain are described vaguely as a 'similar pattern' without sufficient detail. To reach a higher band, you should focus on more precise data reporting and clearer comparisons between the countries, ensuring that the figures mentioned accurately reflect the visual information provided in the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the highest rates to the lowest. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'After the decades' or 'become slightly rise'. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow of information. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is clear would help elevate the score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, including terms like 'fluctuation', 'proportion', and 'minimal'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'prediction of future overweight rate' (should be 'projections of future overweight rates') and 'become slightly rise' (should be 'show a slight rise'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Korea and France was observed') and prepositional usage ('reach to the nearly 70%'). Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points. To improve, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles and prepositions in your descriptions of trends.
