Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, including the overall trend and specific data points for the nine countries. However, the report is somewhat cluttered with data, making it difficult to follow the comparisons. While the overview is present, it lacks a clear synthesis of the most significant trends. Some data points are presented in a way that is hard to verify against the graph, and the grouping of countries could be more strategic to highlight the 'main features' rather than listing individual statistics. To improve, focus on grouping countries with similar trajectories rather than detailing every single year and percentage.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between sentences is often mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'in 1980', 'then'). The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as when mentioning 'Australia canda' or 'Australia after cross over Canada'. The logical progression is hindered by the dense listing of figures, which makes the text feel like a list of data points rather than a cohesive analytical report. Improving the use of linking phrases and better paragraph structure would enhance readability.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There is a reliance on basic descriptors like 'upward trend', 'reached a peak', and 'rapid growth'. Some word choices are awkward, such as 'The least figure was observed' (should be 'The lowest figure') and 'Korea percent' (should be 'The percentage for Korea'). There are also minor spelling and typographical errors, such as 'canda' and 'Austaria'. To reach a higher band, incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'plateaued', or 'a marginal increase'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include missing articles ('in 1970, USA accounted for...'), incorrect preposition usage, and punctuation errors. For example, 'Australia after cross over Canada ,Spain showed rapid surge' is grammatically fragmented and confusing. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and consistent use of articles would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
