Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified some main features, such as the USA having the highest rates and Korea the lowest, the analysis is incomplete. You have not covered all nine countries mentioned in the prompt, nor have you provided a comprehensive overview of the trends over the full period (1970–2020 and beyond). The lack of detail regarding the projected future rates means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you include data for all categories and provide a more thorough summary of the trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into three short paragraphs, which is a logical structure for a report. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For example, 'While, Koreans weight rate were least by all the time' is grammatically awkward and lacks a smooth transition from the previous sentence. The progression of ideas is clear enough to follow, but the lack of depth and the brevity of the response make the overall flow feel disjointed. Using a wider range of linking words, such as 'in contrast to', 'furthermore', or 'consequently', would help improve the logical flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'gained the weight' and 'weight gained significant growth' are not natural collocations in this context. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'unhealth' instead of 'unhealthy' and 'helthy' instead of 'healthy'. To achieve a higher band score, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'percentage', 'trend', 'fluctuate', or 'projected'. Expanding your range of vocabulary will allow you to describe the graph's features with greater accuracy and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Koreans weight rate were least by all the time' (subject-verb agreement and preposition errors) and 'more people were unhealth' (incorrect word form). The sentence structures are relatively simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct word forms (adjectives vs. nouns), and the accurate use of prepositions when describing data. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures will also help demonstrate better control over English grammar.
