The line graph above illustrates the increase of overweight rates in nine different countries. It compares the overweight rates from 1970 to 2020.
The country with the massive change is USA as it started from under 50% rate in 1970 but it kept increasing resulting in a massive gain of more than 70% rate in 2020. Following USA, comes england, as it's the 2nd country which showed a massive gain in overweight rates england started at under 50% rate but ended up being 70% in 2020. Apart from these countries, we can also see some countries where the rates haven't changed drastically and had a slight increase. For example, austria. Austria started at 40% and stayed pretty much the same through years and ended up between 40% and 50%. The country with the least overweight rate is korea it went from more than 20% to more than 30%.
By the given data we can conclude that all the countries has had an increase in the overweight rates.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response provides a general overview and identifies some key features, such as the significant growth in the USA and England. However, the analysis is limited. It fails to provide a clear, data-driven comparison of all nine countries, instead focusing on a few examples. The 'overview' is quite brief, and the report lacks a structured approach to grouping data, which is essential for a high-scoring Task 1 response. To improve, ensure you select the most significant trends and provide accurate data points to support your descriptions rather than relying on vague estimations like 'under 50%'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into three short paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the description of the USA/England and the mention of Austria is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes repetitively (e.g., 'The country with...'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the paragraphing could be more effective by grouping countries with similar trends together. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', 'Conversely') to guide the reader through your comparisons more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'massive change', 'massive gain', and 'increase'. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or precise collocations. For instance, instead of 'massive gain', you could use 'a significant upward trend' or 'a sharp rise'. Spelling errors, such as 'england', 'austria', and 'korea' (which should be capitalised), also detract from the overall quality. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and adverbs would help convey the data more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Subject-verb agreement issues are present, such as 'all the countries has had' instead of 'have had'. Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with run-on sentences and missing commas. Capitalisation of proper nouns is also neglected. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring proper sentence boundaries.
