Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task by summarizing the provided line graph. However, the information is often inaccurate or poorly interpreted. For instance, the student claims the USA rate was 'nearly 48%' in 1970, which does not align with typical data trends for this task, and the description of other countries is vague or confusing. The overview is present but lacks clarity, and the selection of data points is inconsistent. The response fails to provide a clear, accurate summary of the main features and trends, which is essential for a higher band score. More careful observation of the graph's axes and data points is required to improve the accuracy of the report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'To continued with' and 'Whereas korea has lease more fit'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, making it difficult to follow the comparison between countries. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are not always used appropriately to connect sentences or ideas logically. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the overall flow of the report is hindered by these structural weaknesses.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often inaccurate. There are several instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'lease' instead of 'least', 'fat people' instead of 'overweight population', and 'obesity in human being' which is unnatural. The student struggles to use precise terminology related to data description, such as 'drastic change' or 'moving upwards', which are used in a repetitive or imprecise manner. To improve, the student needs to focus on learning collocations related to trends and data, as well as improving spelling and word formation to ensure the message is conveyed clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'three countries had noticed'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty or contain errors that distract the reader. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. The student relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and the lack of control over more complex grammar limits the ability to express ideas with precision and clarity.
